I really would’ve liked to see Apple add HealthKit to iPadOS 16 but hopefully they add it to iPadOS next year

I use my iPad Pro throughout the day as my main device for getting work done and it would be a lot more convenient to be able to use HealthKit on a much bigger screen than on my iPhone
Agree times a million. I wonder if Apple is hanging onto some of these types of low-hanging fruit software additions to be used kind of as “filler” to round out their keynotes every year. Like how the Mac got a Clock app this year - gives them another thing to show off and another little tile in the update summary page at the end of the presentation.

Whatever the reason may be for them keeping their own necessary and important software off of their own devices, it’s annoying. All I want is to be able to use my health data on my larger-screened device…it’s not a crazy request.

Personally I miss having the ability to use Bedtime - it was really useful on 12 because it was still in the Clock app

Exactly! I think it’s only a matter of time before Apple does add HealthKit to the iPad.

I just read that the weather app has finally been added to iPadOS so I’m glad that that has been taken care of this year:

Per Apple’s site the Air 2 and Mini 4 are cut off, but everything else that ran 15 gets 16.

Looks like I can keep my 5th gen for one more year. Really surprised since it struggles when it comes to multitasking.
It's strange that they're still supporting these old iPads but dropped the A9 and A10 iPhones (and iPod touch)

I love Apple. I really enjoyed the presentation. Gotta love Craig Federighi!

It’s much easier to tap on the numbers on the screen than to type them on a virtual and physical keyboard. Besides, they already make a lovely calculator app for the Mac and iPhone - no reason to keep it off of their other flagship device. It’s just messy and inconsistent.
Spotlight is better than a dedicated app when using a physical keyboard. Just hit cmd+space in any app and type the math problem, all without leaving the app you’re in. A full screen calculator looks silly on a screen the size of an iPad’s.

I can only hope that some of this multi-task clutter can be disabled under "accessibility" or if they will continue to alienate and frustrate seniors and those without eye-hand coordination within 1 millimeter. .

I never said I wanted a full screen app - a Slide Over or quick notes-style mini window would work just fine, especially now that the M1 Pros are getting more of a windowed environment. Again, tapping on the calculator buttons is just easier and more intuitive for a lot of people, including myself. Having a dedicated app installed (which Apple already makes) would just be cleaner and enhance feature parity between devices.

I’m not saying the Spotlight calculator isn’t a good feature, but it’s just so stupid that they don’t put their own relatively simple apps on their own devices.

I feel like Stage Manager isn't quite what people wanted when they asked for 'windows'.

I know it's not what I wanted
I'm sure it is. It's what I want, and everyone else I've talked to. Very exciting stuff.

If you don’t have a M1 iPad you won’t get stage manager anyway

It seemed like the presentation and discussion of making more desktop-class apps was leading to an announcement of Final Cut Pro on iOS.

But, nope.

Yay for file manager, external monitor support and Safari-PWA related improvements...
looking forward for more details, reviews and eventually a iPad Mini with those capabilities.
