I like it. I will get the white one. How I wish they made it shorter than 4s NOT taller!

This update was nothing short of disappointing. New processor, bigger screen, better screen, better camera, thinner, lighter body which is made of more durable materials, LTE, more battery life, and the new look. That's it. Pretty underwhelming to say the least. I wanted more.

I understand that a lot of Apple's business model at present is focusing on refinement rather than pathfinding but I'm still feeling pretty underwhelmed by the whole event. Probably because I couldn't care less about the iPod line. However, I liked a lot of the changes they've made to iTunes.

I'm on Sprint, so I have no reason to spend money on an LTE-enabled phone until they roll out LTE-10 on their whole network.

anyone know the full price for each of the iph5 models? Lots of us will have to weigh the benefit of paying full price vs. Vz's penalty for early contract termination - not to mention loss of unlimited data.

649

Predictable, almost everything had been shown already. Once more disapointed , ipad is superior to anything out there, iphone is mere top phone among several others, with a heavier price tag.

Anyone find out what the retail non-contract prices will be? I believe the 4S started at $649 for 16GB, right? Hopefully this is the same.

Edit - nevermind. someone answered the question a couple posts above.

My S3 is way better.. i get to switch out my batteries when 1 dies down.. i get to overclock it on root, change roms, do whatever i want with the phone, no limits,

Faster and lighter and larger display. Seems like a winner to me.

yeah, not sure what people want.
The Samsung phones are so ugly and some so bulky.
The iPhone is near perfect, it just got better.
I like the white version better, but they should look stunning in person.

Again, this will sell millions, users will love but the whiners here will never stop complaining. :D

Did you really expect an iMac update announcement the same day as the new iPhone? Seriously, when has Apple ever done that?

They've done this many times - not during the glitz - but a quiet update on their site at the same time. Nothin.

The back is so ugly, it's really amazing. Also, it's pretty sad to see all these 4S-owning drones in this thread who are going to upgrade because they honestly think that they gain anything from it.

They really should stop with these hyped up keynotes.

Each iphone upgrade will be a little better here and a little better there.. we get it. Just put on display.. we'll buy it.

But enough with the theatrics.
The keynotes just aren't the same without the catching enthusiasm of Jobs and his mind bending reality distortion field. And when there's so little innovation on display as there was today with the iPhone 5 and the iOS 6 it's bordering on boring. And today's event was without a doubt the most boring iPhone launch in the history of the iPhone.

Anyone would be kind enough to explain me why oh why the back in aluminum? The white is just ugly! :(

I NEED an explanation

Yeah. OK. This is a better phone than the 4S. (Not all that..) But still better. But is it worth the change? No way imo. Not even if you've got an iPhone 4.
The only significant changes that I could benefit from are the front camera (which I use nothing) and the LTE, which isn't that much of a change when your carrier doesn't even have one antenna installed in your country (I'm in Europe).

So... Nice? Yes. So ****ing nice. Am I gonna buy it? Well, if I fall in love with it when I first hold it... maybe. Otherwise... NO.

Holy eff, $30 for the adapter? I know it's apple, but I would have hoped for something along the lines of $19.99 or $15.99 for a small piece of plastic. $40 for an extension cable.

And the lightning to USB is only $20. Anyone care to explain?

Ordered the adapter (Ugh.. gotta have tunes in my car!). Doesn't ship until October, but not taking a chance on shortages or delays. Maybe it will ship earlier.

lightning  is still using USB 2.0

I did not really think the bottom would have looked like that. It looks like someone trying to build a phone and just drilling a bunch of holes on the bottom.

Hahahaha. When I saw what the iPhone 5 was I thought - 'Amazing industrial design, incredible spec, clever as hell, jaw-dropping engineering all over, great new ecosystem tools. Home run! This has made Samsung look like purveyors of cheap and nasty oversized junk.'

Come on here and it's a crap update and half of you are going Android. Well, enjoy your Samsungs.
Incredible isn't it? The thing looks lovely to me. I've held an SIII and it feels cheap and plasticky. There is no comparison as far as I'm concerned. Can't wait to upgrade my 3GS to a 5.

New processor: who cares as long as it runs fine? How many people demand 100% cpu power?

Bigger screen? Still to small for me 3.5" was abysmall, 4" is barely any bigger

Better screen? Compared to competitors nothing better

Better camera? Compared to competitors nothing better

Thinner: who cares

More durable then glass? gee how hard was that?

Lte : Compared to competitors nothing better

New look is nice, and better battery we will see (but I hope at least there it will excel)

No, nothing really fantastic disapointing .

Maybe it's not a huge upgrade if you have a 4S, but if you replace your phone every two years like most people on contract do, it's a different story. The 5 will be a nice improvement from my iPhone 4.
