Whats the point of this device?
The specs are worse than standard iP17 at a higher cost.
The AIR is only thinner (in some areas), but not smaller. Therefore it is still not usable single handed or for people with smaller hands. It will be same uncomfortable grip like iP17.
Why does this exist? It makes no sense to me.

An iPhone mini makes sense for smaller hands (children, smaller female hands, ...), but this was discontinued having customer value being smaller. AIR makes zero sense to me.
You've never seen this phone in person or touched it but have concluded it is not usable single handed. Color me unconvinced. They're going to sell 5 of these for every iPhone mini they ever sold. You'll have plenty of folks to ask "what's the point" in a week or so, including me ;).

That all makes sense, of course. Aesthetically, I think most of us love the idea of a completely flat slab in theory. But I think Apple correctly factored in the camera and battery-life expectations of most potential Air customers.

When the phone’s design was first rumored, I couldn’t understand why the wide bump was needed, but it all makes sense now. Moving the phone’s critical circuitry to the bump is an incredible technical achievement, and was necessary for them to obtain a battery big enough to hit battery-life goals.

For me, the camera is where I’m really surprised (assuming it works as well as advertised), and this is what pushes me into the “buy” column. But I realize not everyone needs that.
Indeed, it is quite impressive!

It will be interesting to go into the store in a week or so and actually hold one in hand. It will also be great to see some reviews after normal people (not YouTube reviews etc) have them for a month or so. I think the Air is going to sell like hotcakes but only time will tell.

Yes. For the weight. That said I’m disappointed in the weight. I was hoping for a return to the 130-ish gram days.
Might have been possible if they kept it to 6.3”. Personally I like that it’s a bit bigger. I liked the max screen last year but the weight was too unwieldy for me day to day and ended up switching to the pro.

I'll say it again: iPhone Mini Air. Small, light, thin. Please.

6cm x 13cm is great for me, but (since the votes are in) not great for others.

It's not that Apple has slapped their hand down upon the table, but that they inevitably have to bow-down to the Market.

In my mind, they *should* be able to cater to every interest, of every individual; the reality of the process is that they need to maintain a focus upon what works, and to that which remains financially (logistically) viable.

All my cruft aside, we get what we get.

Be Happy!
