You know, there are probably some people who do not have a drivers license … and then there are those people who live in a state that does not have a digital drivers license yet … but sure, it’s useless
I was just about to type this reply too. sure, the places you CAN use this are limited, and the states you can get a Digital ID are more limited. But, this allows someone in a non-participating state use your digital Passport as ID verification in those certain TSA airports.

Not sure if this would work but I heard M&T Bank, the NFL stadium near me, is accepting digital IDs as a form to show if you are of age for alcohol purchases. just another cool thing that has some uses.

No issues and went smooth…. I already have my Drivers license digital wallet and use that every time I fly so this currently is more of a backup.. Hopefully “they” will add more use and international travel as more people have access to this and can be more secure.

Public beta...aka the default level for most Apple software these days. I get you have to start somewhere, but deliver a 1.0 and iterate.
I mean, when you launch something as wide-reaching as this there are going to be issues. There's only so much you can catch in internal testing. I'd rather them be honest and mark it as a beta so that the user understands ahead of time that there might be errors rather than them presenting it as a final product with errors.

It’s a step forward towards not having to have your wallet on you? You could have said the same thing about Apple Pay in 2014. Now I carry one physical credit card on me just in case.

Don’t want to use it? Then don’t add your passport! What a concept!
there are times - many in fact - I leave the house with nothing but my phone. car operates off of it, credit cards, id. its becoming too easy.

The complaints about anything and everything related to this are very amusing!

I am excited to add my passport to my Apple Wallet when I get home.
Haters gotta hate.

Is this the perfect answer to everything passport/ID related? Nope. Not by a long shot. But it's a good first step and as with most stuff Apple rolls out, it will continue to get better/more widely accepted over time.

I'm a happy camper.

Had no issues adding mine. Went from applying to ready for use in less than 5 minutes.
Same.. super simple and quick

There's really no reason why this shouldn't soon be accepted at the border for international travel. With the biometrics this should be as secure as a paper passport. Let's hope other countries adopt this soon as well and accept it for international travel.

Thing is, the drivers license is one thing, as you have the hard copy with you. This is nice, and great for a backup, but that's all.

I made a post about people relying on this, and got all these down votes. But those people aren't' relying on it almost certainly, so.....

This is about as useless as the Invites app.

You can't use it as ID, few airports take it, you can't travel internationally with it. What's the point?
Just give it time. In fives years, they’ll be common place. Remember Apple Pay? The US wasn’t ready for it. Now everybody accepts Apple Pay. Companies that don’t seem like an oddity. Admittedly though, the IDs have gotten much traction. Apple needs to make it easier for states to adopt.

Do you consider 250 US airports "few?" That's pretty much every significant airport in the country (there are only ~500 commercial airports total in the US).
