FINALLY we can stop speculating about when the iPad launch is happening this year! Exciting times!
Not sure new iPads are exciting anymore when they are severely hamstrung by a terrible restrictive operating system.

Until Apple allow the iPad to be more than just a companion device to your Mac & iPhone, there's nothing to get excited about.

My M1 iPad Pro 12,9“ is one of my favorite Apple Devices.
That being said I really really cant see them bumping up the price even further.
If that is the case I would recommend everybody to buy a Macbook/Pro instead.

Say you’ve not done any professional level talent video capture/editing without SAYING you’ve never done any professional level talent video capture/editing. :)
Maybe filming was 1 to 2 weeks but add in planning, design, and editing and it’s going to be months.

He was probably just referring to an inperson/stage event. This will highly likely be a prerecorded video. This launch is too big to just suddenly place em on the website and leave it at that. This is not unexpected.
Nah, he mentioned “Launch Event” like the March Mac didn’t have a “Launch Event”. In other words, something that didn’t show up here and would just be a press release.

There is literally nothing to get excited about with ipads. An upgrade to OLED for the pros and it's still the same tablet as it was in 2018. Steve Jobs said the ipad only existed because it filled some niche that the iphone and Macbook couldn't fill, and that was when phone screens were still tiny. The only thing that can move the needle is putting some version of macOS on it so it can actually be a computer.

Very curious if this will be only the expected iPad, keyboards, and pencil. Be interesting if Apple slips in something unexpected in the announcement.

Odd time for an event. For me I’m not updating my iPads any time soon. I hardly use the ones I have tbh.

Still any apple event is welcome I guess.
Yeah I have an Air 2 and I guess the 2019 model or something. The Air 2 only has 16GB and the battery sucks now, but the 2019 model I got used last year is a beast with 128. I don't see any reason to use any other tablet. Best hope is that more and more iPads become cheap, so I don't need to keep sharing it.

These were times full of life.

Doubt it, unless there's something special in the M4 this new Pro would use. The M3 is barely half a year old.
I think the issue is that the N3E process node has better yield and cost then the N3B node so the m4 generation is going to be cheaper.

Probably part of the reason the Vision Pro stuck with the m2 instead of taking the instant batter most of m3.

I'd love to see Apple remove the half baked stage manager stuff and leave the iPad as a media device. I couldn't care less about keyboards and trackpads for iPads. If I need macOS I'll use my desktop or laptops.

But then why would they release M3 iPads?

I’m not disagreeing or agreeing with you but the majority of this sites iPad users would hard disagree with you.

Sonos has announced a new version of their app, also for release on May 7th. That's a coincidence... right?

I have a few HomePod minis for Siri, but Airplay 2 is pretty unreliable when streaming to both systems, and it's cluttered and expensive to double up speaker coverage. I'd be thrilled if we got Siri support on the Sonos, or first-class integration of Sonos speakers into iOS/etc.

Both og iPad and Apple Watch launched with older hardware, these things are set in stone a while in advance

Funny you mention this - I had a salesman stop by this morning, and as he was showing me his wares on his Macbook, I noticed he was using Stage Manager. Starting to think that this forum's readers might not be the intended audience of SM.
