I'm wondering if they are having to slow walk the bigger iMacs due to the global supply chain situation.
Yeah most likely :/
And having to choice they probably went for the MBP first because it's obviously the best selling computer of the two

So I still don't know if it's better to take 14" M1 Pro 10-Core CPU and 16-Core GPU or 14" M1 Max 10-Core CPU and 24-Core GPU. The difference inn price is not that big, but battery time is also important to me and I assume that M1 Max in the same scenarios may use battery quicker.

Does no one find it a little weird that we just heard all about the 16- and 32- core GPUs and there wasn’t one mention of an upcoming game that will take advantage?
Mac has never been a gaming machine. The high end GPUs most likely targeting video editors.and other content creators.

And Intels pathetic CEO thinks he can make better chips than Apple in that recent interview

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Oh both those M1 CPU’s destroy The **** called intel

Only Apple users buy Apple products. Serious don't know anything about marketing?

Only Apple can convince their customers that the expensive hardware they just bought a year ago is basically garbage.
I will be replacing my Mid 2012 MBP with one of these soon (hopefully).
Good grief you are patient. Well, sir, your patience has been rewarded!

So… safe to assume discrete graphics are never coming to the new Macs?

I have an ‘08! Definitely upgrading.

Ah sweet, finally the 13”/14” I’ve always wanted. I doubt I’ll ever get the 16” again. But damn, where’s the Space Black option - that keyboard would really work well with a darker model. All in all a killer update. I don’t need to upgrade yet but wish I did lol

They repeatedly do whatever they can to ensure gaming can't flourish on Macs. Let OpenGL languish to death, kill 32-bit, switch architectures (though Rosetta 2 is really good). If Apple wanted to move into desktop gaming they could, but they just have a blind spot or something in this area.

The new chips sound insane. Can't wait to see independent benchmarks. It truly feels like the beginning of a new era in computer performance.

just a few examples but vscode, ida pro, mssql, gaming and so much more will still be a no go from now on... and no, neither apple nor microsoft will fix any of this. never.

happy to be one of those that are honored to receive one of the last intel-mbps that are gonna be produced.

glad, however, for all of you that are happy with ARM. the m1's are definately good processors. no doubt about that.

What's wrong with VSCode? Their website indicates they have a universal binary for download. As for running databases for local development, do yourself a favor and use Docker.

And how is my post even revelant to marketing when I wasn’t even thinking about marketing for the standard when I posted it

also secondly there are more iPhone + windows users
Out there than iPhone + Mac so you saying only apple users buy apple products alone is absurd

what about missing out on almost every library out there being used ?! it's not just about the IDE ! and docker ?! SQLPAL, seriously ?! hahaha...

I don't understand this comment. Here's the MS official SQL Server image: https://hub.docker.com/_/microsoft-mssql-server

Any modern application is going to have the entire stack containerized and running in k8s anyway, so why wouldn't you use that both for ease of development and consistency with the deployment?

What libraries? Yeah, Docker. Containerization is pretty standard these days, because it allows you to basically copy/paste environments all the way from local to production. Never heard of SQLPal in my entire life and from the website it doesn't even officially support Windows 10. Sounds like you use some Microsoft-specific tools, which isn't really the fault of Mac or Linux distros.

libraries for developing software for the x86 platform ?! arm is not the only platform out there and if i'm not able to develop, debug and run software for windows, more than half of my revenue will be gone. it's as simple as that.

and sqlpal is the abstraction layers microsoft uses for any platform outside microsoft's own windows! it's still nowhere near complete, yet, though and has its quirks.

Given that recent Intel ads don't even talk about CPU's they still have the notch for their next "CPU" campaign.

Obviously if you're developing or using native Windows software, then you'll have the best experience for that on Windows. This is a pretty silly place to complain about your Windows setup. It's like going to a Dell forum to rant about the lack of XCode and Sketch support.

why is that ?! i'm using macs for 15 years now to do everything i need to do after apple decided to switch from powerpc to intel. the decision to switch from intel to arm is, well, apple's decision and as i said, i'm happy to get my last intel mbp in the next couple of days. for the next couple of years i will have nothing to complain about and i'm happy for all of you that don't sit in my boat but if things don't change (and i know they won't), i will need to switch my mobile platform in a couple of years anyways.

there's more than just windows or macos out there. it's esxi, citrix, special bsd's, x86-virtualization in general and so so many api's with libraries for just windows - i earn my money with almost every platform out there and as of today i was able to do so with any mac out there. the switch to arm simply hinders me or rather "disables" me completely.

but that's fine. no worries here. i'm just commenting ;)

I actually use the hardware. This will export video faster and everything else I do faster. I also bought it a month ago, not a year ago. Didn't know if I could hold out for these new Macs, but now I know they are worth it. The high refresh rate, super bright display and the 1080p camera built in are also important.

Yeah, I haven't been excited like this for Apple in a very long time.
