Stocks always fall slightly after keynotes, no news there.
Macbooks coming with 1GB is Apple ripping people off. Go to any consumer electronic store and you'll be able to get your hands on a 749 dollar laptop with 2GB.
So Apple aren't generous in any way, especially for $1 700. They are just trying to fool people that they are generous. It's all marketing, and I advice everyone to stay wise and be above it.
design it just bit more thicker, and Apple probably can make much nicer, more productive and pleasant laptops. oh also with a user replaceable battery.
This is the most hilarious thread I've ever read in my life. People complainin' about this and that. Crackin' me up. Honestly, I think it's a great product. Big thumbs up to Apple.![]()
All tech stocks rose due to Apple keynote expectations, so why shouldn't they all fall if the keynote was crap?Stocks are falling across the board today. Citigroup announced a 10 billion dollar loss. Fears of recession are up. There's more going on today than the keynote!!
DOW down 217.86 (1.70%)
NASDAQ down 45.99 (1.86%)
S&P 500 down 27.43 (1.94%)
Stocks always fall slightly after keynotes, no news there. They are going to sell the **** out of the Airs in Europe and Japan to general everyday consumers. I can guarantee it.
Power users need not apply -- see the Pro model.
No kidding.
A lot of the folks who are whining are, frankly, quite stupid.
They have NO conception of markets. They have NO conception of anything other than their own needs. That have NO conception of similar products, either in pricing or attributes.
But, please. By all means, keep complaining. Feel free to display your naivety and ignorance to the world.
To me this product is no more than Steve whipping out his junk and saying to the other PC manufacturers, "Hey look at me, mine's thinner than yours!" Besides the form factor, the specs are pretty underwhelming. Even for an ultralight. And why didn't they go with a 160gb hard drive? I get that this is supposed to a be a companion piece to a larger desktop or even MBP. But still, its a pretty expensive kit.
How is it a great product. Yesterday my CC was burning a whole in my pocket to buy this, but then I heard the specs and I was completely turned off, especially with the lack of expandability. No user replaceable battery, no memory expansion, no way to add a FW400 even if you wanted to. This machine is the definition of planned obsolesce.
how do you guys Photoshop (or any other Creative Suite product) will run on the new MacBook Air?
I absolutely agree with you, but I don't think people want to spend $1,800 to check their email. The problem is the price vs. performance - it's fine to offer a lightweight, stripped down option - but then you can't charge "pro" prices for it. I think that's where most of the disconnect stems from. This is a Mac for people who want to do writing and email and internet and some other "lighter" applications (like listening to music, or watching some videos), and not carry around a heavier, bulkier machine.
Dude, the UK is well behind in the technology field...
Just wait till you get HSDPA @ 3.6 Mbps, on a cell phone!!!
Maybe that'll be there in five to fifty years?

I believe in the home your still on ADSL2! And your only getting 25 Mbps if your like next to the exchange, Joe Blogs will only achieve 18 Mbps if they're lucky. lol
Fibre is the way forward.... only 120MB/s
i think a macbook pro is better suited for that. the macbook air is for those who do a lot of plane/train hopping. businessmen, district managers, writers, etc...
That's a MacBook. I think you're missing the point - yes, they could make it just a little bit thicker and add all the stuff people are complaining about...but then it would be that much thicker, and the MacBook Air lives and dies based on it's thinness...really it's no different than the gamer who spends 50% more for 8% more performance on ultra-high end hardware. The Air sacrifices features for its form factor.
Apple's entire design for the MacBook Air revolves around form factor - it has nothing to do with optical drives, replaceable batteries etc. It sacrifices those for the desired form factor. I think it works.
