the base 16" refurb that I bought just dropped another CDN$100

so now the question is get the $100 back through price protection for a total saving of $600

or return it and end up spending $600 extra for more p-cores and gpu cores

would love to see some benchmarks

What would you do?

Unless there’s a glitch, they’ve also knocked £100 off the base model, down from £1,699, to £1,599 (UK 14”). With the increased RAM thrown in, that’s £300 cheaper than the previous 16/512 M3.

ok, now I’m interested….

Noooo I’m so sad it doesn’t have fancy colours…. 😭😭
I just wanted a proper display in a premium and nice looking device. If I’m going to spend this kind of money I don’t want a black or silver machine again, I’ve already owned too many Dells and HPs….

Well, they sound like awesome devices, so enjoy everyone who is getting one! I’ll await the Air release to see if they get a proper display then in a nice starlight or purple package 😿

I love the new nano-texture display option. Still, I wish it would come with integrated 5G. Also, the storage upgrades are still expensive as hell unfortunately.

This update really seems to hit the lower end Macs the best...the base models across the lineup are much better values. The new SDR brightness is also big along with a Nano-option for people.

The upper ones are great, but the cost for upgrades is a lot to swallow. Sticking with my M1 Max still.

Glad Thunderbolt 5 is here, but am waiting for Wifi 7, a new design, OLED and hopefully cellular/face ID.

But overall this was a good week for the Mac.

Apple
Website shows the new pro models for me currently. Looks pretty good I’d say

its killing me to have to wait longer for OLED I'd love to upgrade but I dont want o buy now just to upgrade next year for OLED.

Same. Really tempted to upgrade now, but next year it will supposedly have OLED and be a little thinner and lighter, which is welcome.

My M1 Max MBP is working just fine, so I really don't need to upgrade yet.

Time to recycle my 12 core M3 Pro. Will just be too slow now!!

/s

Neat to see the progression, but moving from an M1 and getting my M3 with deep discounts about 2 months ago I have zero regrets. Be curious to see / hear how true performance improvements the new chips can provide.

The base 14” M4 MBP starts at 2.000€ here in Spain (1.929€ to be more precise). And that’s the lowest base model! Holy guacamole!

At those prices, the MBP suddenly looks much less appealing. And wait for it! The 14” M4 Pro starts at 2.500€ (2.449€ to be more precise). That’s insane!

Looks like the pricing is the same as before in the UK. So that’s good for those who want one. I happy with my Apple refurb M3 Max 14” model. Saved a fair few hundred on it.

I should add though, anyone upgrading from an older MacBook, or if this is your first one, they are VERY powerful and capable machines with Apples silicon.

Considering the Center Stage Camera is on the Pro now, this makes it inferior to the Air's camera. 4K Center Stage any time soon?

And the checkout system lies - before checkout, Nov 8th. After checkout, Nov 19th.

Add it to the cart again, and it says the 8th, so it's not a legit push

On the webpage is says M4 Pro still only supports 2 external displays not 3 (sadness). They literally have the ability to provide this now by just letting us have it with the laptop lid closed. But still don't allow it. Disappointed but not surprised.

Knew it... prices went up like with base M4 MacBook Pro's

EDIT... Looks like I screen grabbed Education store prices. Nevermind.
