I'm not understanding the rush of Droid, Pre and Nexus One (or whatever they are) users rushing in to tell us how awful the iPhone OS 4.0 is.

It would be similar to me, someone who had given up using Windows and moved to OS X, going over to a Windows forum when they release a new OS to comment on how OS X runs better. Pointless and time wasting. If I'm happy with OS X, why would I waste my time looking up what other operating systems are doing and then whinging and whining that they aren't doing what the operating system I am using does?

I do, and I don't want that HTML5 thing to wasting my allowance downloading some s#itty video-ads in the background. I, read capital I, want to decide how I'm using my bandwidth allowance, not some stupid bandwidth-consuming add.
Why I'm saying "more", because the temptation to embed more&more "free" add is bigger than before..I guess.

Again: Android, here I come!;)
It will only load the "HTML 5 thing" if you open the ad. It's not going to sit there and download every trailer, game and poster for Toy Story 3 if you're not going to open the damn advert.

You're annoyed with Apple for providing a better less obtrusive experience. Unbelievable.

I agree. They could have done better. Some notifications do not need to be modal, and with folders how are you going to know if an app in a folder needs your attention?

The folders show a notification if an app within requires attention.

54 negatives?

Mind Boggling.

Welcome to the MacRumors Forums, home of the grassroots anti-Apple propaganda machine.

I think all the Engadget commenters have migrated to this site.

I love how everyone is saying Apple is just catching up with competing products, and how you'll still need to jailbreak the phone to make it worthwhile …yet they still use an iPhone. Put your money where your mouth is and switch.

I have a 3G, not 3GS, that is, no "multitasking"... that is, when (by mistake) I'll tap on that add, the app will actually close and will start downloading more data than is doing it now. I actually don't need any kind of adds. If I wanna find out about something, I can search for it, I don't need some funny video showing me stuff (mortage and bleaching adds) as Y! mail used to show me everytime when opening it to check my emails. (that was the main reason for me to stop using Y! mail.) Text info is enough! (as gmail shows me now)
My phone is ~1 year old and I'm getting no multitasking? That sux and makes me unhappy. That has made me to use ProSwitcher. I don't need tens of apps running in the background, but ~3 will be enough for me and for the average Joe like me.
At the end of the day, it's a d@mn multimedia (smart?)phone, not a full blown computer or a game box... so I'm not really searching for productivity, but :apple: gotta be kidding me saying that I cannot run an IM and browse the web in the same time on a ~1 year old product.

I have the same feelings when I watch countless and often tasteless Apple commercials about "magical", "exciting" and "revolutionary" features that are available on all other platforms and better quality.

iPhone 3G users need to stop bitching already

iPhone 3G users need to stop bitching already!

It's time for a NEW PHONE, yo!

be excited! we get new phones, all cheap and stuff!

bring on the smooth-ass ipad user experience! :D

By my math, 2160 apps means that we still have the same max of 180 home icons (4 in the dock plus 11 pages of 16). Only now, every single icon slot (even in the dock) can be a folder, and each folder is limited to 12 apps. 180x12 = 2160. Not bad!

I have about 500 apps on my iPhone now, and must access many of them via Spotlight (with a Notepad list for reference) since they’re past the last page.

I’d love unlimited apps per folder (or nested folders) but the 2160 limit suggests otherwise. Only 12 I think. (So I’m sure I’ll sometimes have 2 to 4 folders in a row for a single category, then... like Tower Defense :p But it will be worth it—I’ll have a lot fewer home pages to thumb through.)

OS 4.0 plus rumors of front-facing camera and high-res 960x640 screen are leaving me even more excited about my next iPhone than about the iPad!

Do you realize HOW LONG this was LONG overdue?! Does everyone not realize with so many apps installed and beginning to continuously use that the swipe was no longer becoming sufficient?!

Now there is STILL a flaw - directly on the handheld - where this drag to Folder creation is in real life. Anyone recall how non fluid it is to DRAG an icon from one screen to the next?! Even on the 3GS; this is not so smooth. Try dragging an icon using just 1 finger from page 10 to page 4 ... you REALLY have to be careful of doing this. Having a MOVE function in Settings is MUCH MUCH more efficient and direct. Oh wait I have this on my BlackBerry (which does NOT suffer from running multiple apps or drains battery power while doing so). This was an OS MADE for mobile computing not re-engineered to do so.

When I watch an ad for some junk food where they include puffery such as 'Red Bull gives you wings' I don't blow a gasket, rush over to the Red Bull Rumors forum and spam and troll away about it... I just smirk to myself and think that I'm smart enough to fall for marketing.

So what? Why all the concern over it?

Because the same tools that are rating every story negative are the same tools that are filling every discussion thread with their trollish dreck.

You could have a story that Apple just introduced a car that ran on air and you'd still get 40 negative votes and 4 pages of comments about what a pr*ck Steve Jobs is and how Apple is now trying to add air to its closed ecosystem, and oh BTW Microsoft was talking about cars running on air way back in 2003. It's become incredibly annoying. If I want crap like this, I'll read the Engadget or Digg comments section, thanks.

These "discussions" are barely worth my bandwidth these days. MacRumors really needs some sort of up/down vote filtering function.
