They're both on the left. The right side has only an HDMI port and the SDXC flash card slot.Anyone know if the base M3 14 inch has a USB-C port on each side or are they both on the left? Can't find a press photo of it yet

To be fair, the Pro Max is allegedly the top selling model and costs almost as much as a base MBP…I think it’s because anyone on an M chip isn’t going to be the target audience for this refresh cycle. The audience is going to be Intel upgrades and outright new purchases. Computers weren’t ever meant to have the same upgrade cycle as a phone. They are bigger investments.
Go up the list a little more. Both iterations of the M3 Pro are 150GB/s, a downgrade from the 200GB/s of the M1/M2 Pro.Except the M3 Pro has more memory bandwidth than the M2 Pro: The M2 Pro was 200 GB/s, and the M3 Pro (and low-end M3 Max) are 300 GB/s.
True. This also comes down to the efficiency cores. The M3 Pro has 6 efficiency cores and 6 performance cores in the 12 core version and the M3 Max has only 4 efficiency cores in all configurations with a maximum of 12 performance cores. The M3 Max can have as many performance cores as the M3 Pro can have in total cores. That's going to widen the gap in performance between the two SoC's. While the M3 Pros are minor updates, the M3 Max changes are much more significant. Unless you're upgrading from Intel, do not buy an M3 Pro model. Get the M3 Max instead.Go up the list a little more. Both iterations of the M3 Pro are 150GB/s, a downgrade from the 200GB/s of the M1/M2 Pro.The 14-core Max is 300GB/s and the 16-core 400GB/s. The M3 Pro seems to be positioned differently than the M1/M2 Pro with its scaled back CPU cores and lower memory bandwidth. This is the first time the CPU portion of the Pro/Max chips have not been identical.
I think they are just trying to make things sound more "awesome" than they are in fact. Not all the updated products had M2 . I guess just the iMac, but yeah it is coming from M1. Also like others said, they are making a sales pitch to M1 users.
Yeah, I realized that I misread Apple's specs so I deleted my post about 15 minutes before you posted your reply. You probably didn't notice.Go up the list a little more. Maybe all of the above 🤷♂️I think they are just trying to make things sound more "awesome" than they are in fact.
Our dollar is lower at 72¢ vs the 75¢ it was for a long time and I noticed some other prices at Apple look like they went up as well. I haven't done any major look into it but it is possible.I knew they had something planned for the 13" Pro. And they did just what I wanted - replace it with the 14.
Would have been a slam dunk, but of course, they had to go and put the base RAM at 8 GB. What a joke.
EDIT: Could be mistaken but think its also a huge jump in price from what the 13" was in Canada.
I guess M3 is for those who bought late-2020 M1s (like me) or earlier. I may skip this one and wait for the next one after all.
No they increased the base MBP price by $300 (you get the better screen and speakers but heavier and no touchbar)Did they drop the price $400?
😂 that’s a long bow to draw. The takeaway I got is that people never should have bought M2. M1 was a revolution and M3 was a massive performance leap.. M2 was just a waste of money.
Honestly I hate the 1 external monitor support "policy". I understand it's for market segmentation but a "Pro" device should integrate with your workflow seamlessly. I also have to say that the multiple external monitor support on the M1 Pro isn't that great....The M3 MacBook Pro ‘Yikes’ costs $1,599, has the same SSD and RAM as a MacBook Pro from 2011 but supports only 1 external monitor. What the…
That boost is likely due to raytracing. Is the performance boost only for 3D? What about other GPU accelerated tasks like video editing?
Yes and only 512GB SSD. Not upgradable. The downside for your M1 is the limited OS support. How many years till it’s out of OS support?8gb memory in a 2000 euro Pro laptop….The audacity. I am very happy I bought my refurbished 1TB/16Gb m1pro for 1800 euro three months ago. It is already scary fast.
Do you want Apple to stop selling pcs in June or something? This feels like a slap in the face to anyone who bought an M2 Pro/Max. Yes, something new is always around the corner but releasing the huge refresh the very same year?!
