On price alone Apple will sell a boatload of these. This isn't just targeted at people who want a smaller phone, it's also for people who want a cheaper iPhone.
£359 and £439 in comparison to $399 and $499 how is that fair???
Changing the storage offered is something they can do at any moment. I think there is a chance that the iPhone 7 starts at 32 GB. Then in a year from now they could increase the minimum to 32 GB in the SE. Note that they added 8 GB versions to the 3Gs, 4, 4s and 5c (which were all originally released with 16 GB minimum) when these models had moved to the bottom of the lineup. They only stopped this practice with the 5s.Totally agree!
The only thing I think they should have done is squeezed 32gb into the $399 for future considerations.
I'll bet the SE is around "as is" for 2-3 years now and that 16, which is already a problem for some, becomes even more problematic down the road as so many people buy "the cheapest one they can get" and then end up with so many frustrating storage issues.
No 128GB.
I find the death of Apple painful to watch. All good things come to an end, I guess. I'm grateful to Steve Jobs and all who worked with him for his amazing products.
Did you expect it in the SE at all? I thought it would at the very least. It's not like first gen Touch ID was crap. It's still very usable today.

Fixed that for you.

I seem to recall the original phone price drop being $450. It's been ten years so my memory may be off.Yeah they did have a top tier phone at this price, it was the original iphone. Started at $599 and bombed big time, then a price cut to $399 a few months later. I picked up 2 of them at that price. Then they got wise and started selling them on contract for $199. Until Apple got greedy then the prices quietly went up to $650
Although really, if you were about to buy a 5S, and suddenly this is available - only 7.5/10?Of course. That's how life works. Not everyone will be satisfied. There are some "legitimate concerns" out there, but a lot of people complain because they're demanding too much. Out of 10, I will give Apple a 7.5/10 for this 5S to SE upgrade.
I think the 32 Gb will be the new base starting from the next generation. iPad are opening the way.Looks really great, so long as it's 2GB of RAM (which it *should* be with an A9, unless they pulled a tricky one on us... i.e.: special version of the A9 or something). Starting at 16GB storage is plain silly, but I guess they'd really have pissed 6s folks off if they'd started at 32GB.
In other words... NO BIG DEAL.But, I'm not sure why you're comparing it to the Plus in the first place.
At least for me, it's about what Apple does to their UX reputation, not about what *I WANT*. I'll just buy the 64GB version. The problem is the newbies who go to the phone store and buy the base model (that's pushed and advertised constantly, as that's the price they have in their head), assuming that with a premium phone like an iPhone, even the base model should be OK. Then, after a few months, they find they are struggling with storage.
The point being, the amount Apple gains in up-sells (short term) isn't worth the potential bad user experience (long term).
Yes I absolutely expected the new iPhone SE would have the 2nd gen Touch ID. I am very surprised and disappointed it doesn't.
not long I hope - this phone has China/India written all over - it will do great over there.Damn. Not available in India initially
Anyone have any idea how long before they sell it in India?

If it has 2GB RAM i will change my iPhone 6S to this one.
No 3D Touch. No problem, it's a feature that no one tends to use anyway. I have had s 6s for a month and not needed it once.
