Exactly. The stripes face could’ve so easily gone to the Series 3. I don’t understand why they’re still selling it.
I agree, and I think there is a disconnect at the minute with apple sometimes between what they internally (and long time apple fans) think and how their marketing is and new consumers think. and its most noticeable with the watches but happens also with the phones.
In the old days, it was clear what was 'new model' and what was 'old model'. when I bought a 2011 iMac in about 2014, I knew I was getting a great deal but it was an old model so I couldn't complain about some things like usb 2 or thunderbolt 1....
but to a new consumer, the series 3 isnt the 'old model' its the 'budget model'. and thats how its marketed. so given that, I think its completely unacceptable when apple does things that could easily work on series 3 but they cant be arsed. fine you accept if you buy series 3 then straight from the start there are things that it doesn't do, like ECG monitoring, and I get with some of the complicated watch faces that the series 3 is too small to do them well.
but apple doesn't say on the advertising 'please note this is an old model so we cant be arsed with the 20 mins it takes to resize a simple watch face so get used to getting 1 new watch face with every update whilst series 5 get tons'.
in fact the only thing stopping you doing it yourself in 5 mins is the photos watch face is digital. if that had analog then you just choose your flag as a photo, but it doesn't look as good with digital time on top.
im not complaining so much for me, as I got my series 3 when it was new, and then its entirely my own fault that when I broke my series 3 and apple wanted €200 to 'fix' it (ie replace it with a new one) I said yes rather than just buying a series 5, I paid the €200.
But if I was a kid who'd got their parents to buy me an Apple Watch series 3 and saw this it wouldnt make me think 'I want a series 5' it would make me think 'maybe I should look at Samsung next time'
