Yeah. That someone was me. I can understand how someone would think that Jamaica could be a "random" choice as the 138th most populous country and the country who sent only the 43rd most athletes to Rio, when there are only 22 bands. You can't understand how someone would think that. Okay.

And as I said, I can also see how they would be included, since they do pretty well medal-wise compared to the number of athletes they bring (and compared to their total population).

We will also have to disagree that these bands aren't focused on the Olympics. They absolutely are in my opinion. Apple is choosing not to mention "Olympics" because that would cost them a lot of money in a rights deal.
First that someone I was talking about was Kerr.

for the third time this article says nothing about the Olympics it’s just reference by a few in the thread (from what I’ve read to page 5).
So no I can’t understand your opinion, cause these bands have nothing to o do with that train of thought. most likely these are the countries most represented by Apple or the design team.

So I'm not Italian but... if I was I would probably be pretty pissed:

For context, here is the Italian flag:

WTF!

Actually, Apple did their research as Italy usually play their football matches in blue and I'm assuming their Olympic matches as well. The blue comes from the royal family that once ruled Italy. Same for the Netherlands, orange is the correct colour as that is the colour we play all of our matches in and it also comes from the royal family. Who are unfortunately still in place in the Netherlands.

this doesn’t have anything to do with licensing costs, 22 bands yet 205 countries participating in Tokyo 2021 Olympics lol.

No it's not your fault. Great Britain is what people have the nickname for the UK. So technically your right, it isn't a country.
Great Britain is not just a nickname. It is the name of the single island whose territory is divided between England, Wales and Scotland. It certainly isn’t a country, but rather only a part of one:The United Kingdom, which also includes Northern Ireland and several other territories. I suppose maybe the olympic team goes by the name Great Britain because the members are only from the three territories located in that island and not from the rest of the UK. Otherwise, the use of that name is certainly inappropriate.

I don't get the option to download the watch face on my iPhone that is paired to my watch. It just tells me to open the page on my iPhone which I've already done...

Not sure why you felt the need to quote me twice in two different posts, but okay. I think you're in the very small minority if you think these bands aren't Olympics related. I mean, according to one rumor posted in this thread, they've been delayed a year and released this year instead, just weeks ahead of the Games.

there's no such "country" as "Great Britain".
But there is an olympic team that goes by that name. Perhaps the olympic team only represents England, Wales and Scotland (all of which are located in the island known as Great Britain), but not the rest of the UK.

go to the watch section on apple’s website, scroll down to the international sport loop collection and tap on ‘see the countries’. You’ll find it there.

Do you think it's just a coincidence then that these bands were delayed a year and the released right before the sporting competition happened?

You're welcome. I love CGP Grey. He makes all kinds of great videos if you have time to spare.

Same for me but it's because all the international teams wear it. See.

What an absolutely ridiculous answer by Google: it doesn't tell you anything. We wear orange because the royal family is from the House of Orange-Nassau and that comes from a French village called Orange (now pronounce it with a French accent), where part of the family hails from.

Where’s Wales? Consistently voted best flag in the world! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Wales doesn’t go to the olympics on its own, it goes as part of the so called Great Britain team along with England and Scotland.

Great Britain and the UK are not the same thing.

So athletes from Northern-Ireland cannot join the Great Britain team? Because if they can, UK and GB might be the same thing when it comes to Olympic teams.

I already did that, this is what I get...

They’ve just annoyed everyone in Northern Ireland by referring to the UK as Great Britain.
They are actually referring to the olympic team. The team goes by the name Great Britain, not UK, and presumably doesn’t represent the whole UK, but only the three territories located in the island of Great Britain: England, Wales and Scotland.
