Is the new iPad Air compatible with the previous iPad Air Magic Keyboard Case (with the backlit keys)?

Would like to buy the new Air but keep my current keyboard.

At this stage even blind Freddie could predict new iPad, new expensive keyboard often with incompatible magnets orientation leading to environmental waste, low refresh rate screen

Sorry, I mean, I have an iPad Air 4th gen and the Magic Keyboard case that works with that one (from 2021). I’m hoping this four year old keyboard works with the m3 iPad Air.

Is this a particularly short interval between refreshes? I feel I've form for this.

Bought my M2 Air October 2024, thinking it would be "current" for a while given it was only 5 months post release. Then new model comes out 5 months later.

Bought the iPad 3rd Gen in 2012, which was replaced by the fourth generation within 7 months, with Wikipedia acknowledging that was the shortest lived of any iPad generation.

I'm thinking they just had a lot of left over M3s from the fairly short run in the Macs and this is a great way to use them up. It's a minor improvement, but since they didn't raise the price it's basically a free improvement that adds value.
