Why do people like it so much??? I used one extensivley, and I don't understand it. It has so many limitations, like the iphone, but it's ok with an iphone because it can fit in your pocket and it's cheaper. The ipad will always have to be a supplemental device because it can not replace a computer or an iphone. An iphone and a notebook, on the other hand, are standalone devices. So, I am sticking to my initial impression that the ipad is for people that have enough money to get something that serves no other function than added entertainment: it does not serve the useful and usually necessary functions of an iphone or computer. You have to carry an ipad around in some sort of bag, so one might as well bring a notebook (though it would be nice if the macbook air, another failure of an apple product, had the same footprint as an ipad... that would be perfect).

Besides, the capabilities of the iphone 4 kinda render it completely useless even for supporters of the device.

Exactly my thoughts :)

What's the point in announcing sales of three million? It's just a big one million. ;)

My take is to get the internet over the addiction to Adobe Flash! I have a burn scar here due to Adobe Flash and Hulu - falling asleep with the laptop in my lap

Bring on HTML5 videos... The ABC and Netflix apps rock.. not heat build up and good battery life. Almost never go to Hulu now... missing some of my shows - but voting with my clicks here....

Planning to get a 32GB Wifi myself, next gen go all out with the 3G and highest storage, I mean common only 64GB as the largest? No need for me to go all out unless Apples willing to with their product as well.

wait...what has surpassed the 3million mark? Sales or the use of the word "magical"?

Seriously. Give us a break on the "magical" Apple. This is already sounding like a classic Chris Farley & Christina Applegate (hmmmm...."Apple") doing a Cher infomercial.

2:16 and on if you want to skip the beginning.

You were one of the many that said it would be an epic fail...it's clear you were wrong, and you're reduced to talking about a marketing word.

I anticipated how I could use the iPad for business, and it worked exactly the way I thought--perfectly. So my 17" MBP stayed in the hotel room when I went to a recent biomed conference. I was able to have my Keynote slides and QT movies on the iPad, and when people stopped by the booth, or when we sat around a small conference table I was able to show data and video right in my hands. It's fast, it's a great business tool, plus I've read a bunch of books, PDFs and watched a bunch of TV shows and movies, surfed, got my email at breakfast, revised travel plans, used the Maps app, and the battery lasts all day, real-world 10 hours. Recharges quickly. Really like the Apple case too.

I really don't care if some Luddites or Teen Geeks think it doesn't have whatever. It's a first gen but worth every penny as is.

If you put 3 million iPads next to each other lengthwise, the line formed would extend 452 miles.

Hey, it shuts my girlfriend up while I'm trying to watch TV. That truly is magical.

Wow, that is magic. I wonder how its mojo holds up when there is several females in a group.

Passive Content Consumption?

Good point because it kind of feels like a money grab. Pretty sick and tired of the "iPad is a revolutionary and magical product" stuff. It's a passive content consumption gadget. No more, no less.

So far I have written a 15-minute talk for Church on my iPad, I am writing a novel on it, and I continually use it in place of a notepad and paper in meetings. I would hardly classify it as only for content consumption.

Although I must say that the content consumption is extraordinary and "magical". :) I was reading a book on it and actually found myself trying to grip the next page on the side of the device so I could turn the page. If Apple can make the book-reading experience so fluid as to give the "illusion" of actually reading a physical book, then yes, I call that "magical" -- even if Steve Jobs is over-using the term.

What's nice about the iPad is that you can actually carry it with you up to the podium at church or in a lecture hall to speak to an audience without it looking conspicuous, distracting, and out of place. Thumbing through my notes was more natural and silent than flipping papers and certainly I would not try the same with a laptop or netbook. This thing really is "revolutionary".

To be honest, when some of her hotter friends are in the room, I'm not all that concerned with my iPad's mojo, or with TV. I'm just trying not to get busted for staring.

As for her other friends, I make sure I leave the iPad where they first start gathering, away from the TV. They notice the iPad right away, and always want to try it out. It's like having a newborn; the womenfolk ooh and aah over it.

Try it next time you want some peace and quiet, fellas. It works!
