4K streaming on a Device that doesn't support 4K? I know people here are gung-ho about 4K, but the majority of the market doesn't care about 4K. Or can even tell the difference 1080p and 4K.

4K will not take off until networks start broadcasting in 4K.

BUT the 'majority of the market' probably are NOT Apple customers anyway! I've been buying 4K films and streaming from VIMEO for one year now. Plus, you can make 4K films in FCPX with footage from a iPhone.

I thought the ATV demo yesterday was for the 'brain dead'. Seriously, how lazy are some humans when it comes to TV? I felt embarrassed watching that silly girl on stage getting excited over TV episodes. I felt really sorry for her.

This app just unifies the content in the individual apps plus iTunes content. If the individual apps require a subscription or authentication, Apple has no control over that.

All this app does is remove the need to close and open a different app. And that is exactly what users of Apple TV have wanted for a long time. If I am not mistaken Roku and the now defunct FanTV has a similar interface.
Content? Or do we have to buy individual shows, subscribe to individual packages?

The problem with tv is not the interface it's the content.

Just to clarify, the TV app will only show the content that is available for watching now. As in, it will show only your purchased iTunes content and subscribed, logged in apps like Netflix. So all the stuff you've already bought.

Siri also works for this if you just add "for free" to your search queries. It's works across all official apps I've tried except for Sling, which is a ******, ****** app to begin with.

I still have Netflix app in my Apple TV 4. I really love it. But Netflix could ultimately relent and allow Apple to pull its content into the new TV app. I think i won't upgrade new TV app. I m afraid to lose Netflix app.

You've got the wrong end of the stick. All the new TV does is link to content in other apps. It doesn't remove any apps.

So I finally tried it. Im so glad that it's not the UI nightmare that I envisioned it to be. I thought it would be like the Roku or Apple TV where you just want to throw it against the wall.

But luckily it's not that. You click Hulu and it takes you to Hulu. Not an Applefied version of Hulu but Hulu itself. THIS is the model I hoped for, kinda like Chromecast but where it doesn't take you to a UI hell, but to the comfort of the UI you know and love. Where the developer is in control and updates their app and you are up to date instead of waiting on Apple or Roku to find the time and will to update it. AND most importantly, if the app supports Chromecast, then you're good to go and not held captive by the Apple ecosystem. Thank God all mighty!

So, so far do good. Not much you can do with it so far as Netflix is not there yet.
