The way I see it, the new Apple TV will become the center of our new lives at home, allowing for new and experimental ways to watch tv as well as a completely new and integrated experience with regards to home automation. Definitely also think we'll see incredible optimization for iOS and OS X.

They did just release an update to Final Cut with a major emphasis on 3D titling.

3D titling has been around forever, and it's not like this was something users were clamouring for, necessarily. Hard not to imagine that this is in some way a spill off from some sort of current investment in 3D interfaces or the like.

. . . I actually haven't been clamoring for a 3D interface, either. In fact, I really love the aesthetic of Yosemite & iOS9. At the same time, though, it seems to me that making the interface a "touch-based" experience a la the Taptic Engine would mean giving some kind of visual "physicality" to objects on a screen. I don't mean skeuomorphism by that – instead, I mean giving a user the ability to "touch" things on a screen and move them around in more than 2 dimensions.

It would especially make sense to me if we're talking about controlling many Homekit-controlled devices from an iPad, phone, Macbook, etc.

And yes, you're right to point out that the 3D spatial tech is already there. The other example I could mention is Parallax, which to me certainly indicates that 3D spatial presentation is a significant part of the design team's thinking.

Hummm... has to be Apple TV in the center with 8 points of interaction on the outside.

1. iPhone
2. iPad
3. Mac
4. Apple Watch
5. Home Kit
6. Health Kit
7. Content (Music/TV/Movies/Internet)
8. Carplay

So with the new epicenter, you'll never need to leave your couch! Wait... my Apple Watch says I need to move and Siri is calling me lazy.

Oh wait... crap... I forgot Apple Pay... has to be in there somewhere????

This is just the way Time Machine has always looked. It's possible these patents extend only to that. Unlikely Apple would change the whole look of the GUI in Yosemite only to change it straight away again.

I actually wouldn't imagine they'd change the aesthetic of the two operating systems that much, either (in fact, I hope not because I really like how both look). I just mean to say that they'd be taking what they currently have and "spatializing" it with a layered, possibly parallax-intuitive presentation.

And you're right, I hadn't thought of the Time Machine interface (I haven't had any major crashes so there's been no need to use it, knock on wood) but to me, that and other examples I pointed out in another response underscore that putting things into a 3D space is something that Apple's UI team continues to explore.

I expect the typical --

Start out with how great Apple is doing
- sold more phones than there are people in the world
- Macs are selling well
- Watch is "exceeding expectations"
- We are greener than ever
- etc.
That seems to be the general play book.
New iOS 9

New OS X 10.11
Shocking isn't it.
Maybe a hardware announcement but it would probably be minor.
I don't think it will be minor.
My real hope is that they do something about their naming conventions. Can we get away from naming things with silly numbers. I mean iphone 6 and 6+, iPad Air 2? Really? And same for the OSs. Please give me iOS flat and OSX Gibraltar and forget the numbers.
You are making mountains out of mole hills here. Refer to a device by its root name and you are all set. In a discussion about Mac OS 10.10 call it Yosemite.
I also hope that apple will focus on Stability and integration in their new OSs.
Performance is a must but they also have near term issues with things like HFS+ that really requires a complete overhaul of the file system. In a sense I hope the focus a lot of effort on internals to bump up performance.
For hardware, really the only thing I want to hear about is an improved ATV.
Well that might be interesting, I don't own one right now so I can't claim a strong interest. The device might be more interesting if they opened it up a bit.
Hope this all happens.

Well except for an open AppleTV I expect it to happen.

The rounded square in the middle is definitely the shape of an Apple TV. Also, hasn't the television traditionally been known as the centre (i.e. epicenter) of a home?

I say ATV!!! The round icons could be something related to home kit.

There is a square as one of the shapes. Looks like the new Apple TV or Mac Mini.

Or its just the typical iOS App icon shape - Circles for the :apple:Watch and OS X and Squares with round edges for iOS Rounded Rectangles are :apple:TV Apps currently, and I don't see any of those in the artwork...unfortunately. Don't think we've got a hidden meaning here...

I dont know but I am not really excited about this WWDX.

Dont expect anything from iOs odr OS X except more stability.

I'm not sure why others don't see this. This is the continued convergence of iOS & OSX. iOS uses square icons for apps, OSX uses circle. Seems clear cut to me.

Random Selection

Aaaaaand it's sold out.

Sold out doesn't really exist here. No one should know if they get a ticket until after "April 20th at 5pm PT" when the draw occurs.

By the way, this random selection makes me feel uneasy for some reason.

WWDC 2015 tickets will cost $1,599 and Apple will inform the developers that were randomly selected to attend the event by April 20 at 5:00 PM PT.

MR, you forgot to put randomly selected in quotes. Does anyone really believe that Apple chooses the developers that will attend WWDC at random? Apple doesn't have a history of doing anything at random.
