Different teams in different locations, told to you at registration time?

The issue winds up being that going to the labs and networking with other devs are the two actual values of attending WWDC in person, so splitting the conference up into multiple locations is risky. Why would I want to watch a video feed at a conference center vs a live stream at my office or at home in my PJs?

They don't. Some products like iPhone have enough changes (and contractual commitments by both Apple and consumers) to be worth releasing yearly. For nearly every Apple product, it is about releasing when it is ready, and apple targets 'meaningful updates' (such as 4k an apps to aTV, a larger screen and ECG to a watch, retina and usb-c and T2/touchid to a MacBook Air, etc).

To put a different way, there isn't another company selling Macs where you would buy non-Apple because one has an intel CPU with a slight speed bump. PC makers have to compete on specs and price, Apple has an entirely separate ecosystem to attract and keep buyers.

Absolute bull. They are selling a 6 year old machine at full cost from 6 years ago, causing a whole market segment to abandon their products. They are in fact competing with PCs

Apple should make some kind of switch to go into Pro Mode. This way they could let the user decide if they want to work in the simple mode (means how it is right now) or in pro mode and by that giving the user all the customizable options and more technical possibilities.

By doing this they won’t alienate the customers attracted by apple’s simplicity and also attract more demanding customers who want to customize iOS.

Just a thought...

Apple is pretty averse to any option which affects the default user experience of the product (e.g. custom watch faces, widgets on iPhone lock screens) or which limits the ability of users to have a simpler default posture (e.g. all apple mice and trackpads in the last 15 or so years support right click, but never set on-by-default).

For instance, a popular third-party watch face that takes an extra second to start up, spins waiting for data from the network, or occasionally crashes would affect the reputation of the whole product.

There are also limitations there which third party developers aren't necessarily used to, for example a lock screen or watch face has near-zero file system access. As the lock screen process is responsible for capturing the phone/watch passcode, a non-endorsed developer would also likely lose all network access.

They aren't averse to more sophisticated interactions, but they have to be worth the complexity and still create a quality experience with all the permutations. For instance, zero chance of third party widget theming on macOS.

As a product category, of course. But not the way say Dell competes against ASUS.

I actually think that would be a great idea although knowing Apple I doubt it would happen but you never know.

The poster/key image design for this year’s WWDC is pretty rad! A cool departure from past looks. Of course now I’m racking my brain to figure out what clues are in it and what it might mean as far as what Apple has in store. Please post any ideas below...

I used to book days off work to watch the live stream if the key notes they where that good. Never forget the moment SJ pulled out the 1st MBA from
An envelope, such theatre. Now I catch up with them from twitter, the day after- if I remember.
yes, at that time, we, the apple fans, in Shanghai used to get up at 1AM for the keynote. but in the past 2-3 years, i would rather lay in my bed and read the news next morning. (btw. never forgot the moment that we see the MBA on macworld 2008. Sometimes i also review the SJ's keynotes on youtube)

Dark mode?

Would be nice if they announced a new ‘neon” ui. But they won’t.

Flat your mind, flat your design. Your ideas will explode a few minds? Good, but keep it flat.
[doublepost=1552624759][/doublepost]Is Apple really into Augmented Reality? Can’t spot that from that poster.

Has to has to has to has to be a MacPro launch. IMacPro last year at WWDC. Trash can Pro 6 years ago and WWDC and Tim Cook assuring us of a 2019 launch. I’m excited and ready and desperate to purchase. Let’s get the old core Apple faithful excited again Timmy!

After the WWDC I might make the decision if I want to stay Macuser or switch to Linux (sooner or later). Of course there are also problems with Linux. There are other problems. But with Linux there is at least a lot of freedom and not this extreme dependence to a company without public roadmaps. This dependence is particularly unpleasant if Apple takes a wrong direction from my point of view.

There have always been things that I didn't like about Apple or that were suboptimal from my point of view. But in the end I just accepted that, because macOS was more important to me and of course there are many good things.

There are still many good things.
But the Mac and macOS were neglected too much.

Example:
You just have to look at the current laptops with this keyboard. This is a predetermined breaking point. I'm not buying a laptop where it's very likely that I'll have problems sooner or later.

That's bad for Apple, too. Bad reputation, especially with customers who are not hardcore fanboys.

Thinner, thinner, thinner, ... what nonsense.

With a mobile device I can still understand that (but with the current laptop one has exaggerated). But not on a desktop computer. You don't have to take it with you. I just want a good and affordable Mac with good cooling. Maintainability would be nice etc.

I want a computer and not a designer piece that can only be used to a limited extent for working.

macOS should have a much better quality. The handling of reported bugs is bad. Many are fixed much too late or never. The quality assurance should be better, also when detecting security problems (e.g. Apple should use more fuzzing; then the second last FaceTime problem would also have been noticed).

I am willing to pay a surcharge for Apple. But the surcharge must not be exaggerated. Also one must not be limited too much in the model selection. I would be satisfied with a normal tower at an acceptable price, which Apple doesn't want to offer. Then the rest must fit at least.

Data protection is nice. But there's still a lot of room for improvement when it comes to data protection, too.

I have certainly forgotten many points but I will stop now. I didn't want to write that much.

Let's see a mushroom cloud, a skull, an upside down star / pentagram, a lightning bolt, and devil horn hand sign all on a dark background. Illuminati and dark mode confirmed! /s

Come on, it’s so obvious!
The face is an Android, and the meaning is that Apple is licensing iOS to run alongside Android on 3rd party phones!

Lol, that would be awesome if they did. They’ve to sell fewer iPhones first to even consider this option. By the time they decide the demand isn’t there anymore I’m affraid.

The graphics scream "human sacrifice".

Apple is so freakin weird anymore. All we need now are horns on the next iMac.
