I bought my 16GB touch on ebay - $317 ( with express shipping) and so with the apps - it's what.. $337 ?

I thought I got a good deal... Try looking there. Auctions that end in the middle of the day on a weekday generally go for less than stuff that send on the weekend or a hight traffic time.

Ang
ebay is hit or miss, some will sell used as new, thus the low price.

I think you whiners are completely nuts.

If you buy a shirt and later the same one goes on sale. Do you think you're entitled to a refund of the difference in price after several months?

Quit whining; it's tiresome.
1. The iPod Touch that I bought was on the 15th. Steve Jobs said all new ones would have the new apps and the iTunes Store said anything shipped on or after the 15th would have them. Mine didn't and when I asked about it they told me to return it under their 14-day return policy and buy a new one. WTF?
So, no, it wasn't several months later.

2. Yes. Many companies, even shifty ones, say that if you buy something and they put it on sale within X days they'll refund you the cost difference. Circuit City is one but there are hundreds.

3. The posts that ultimately say/imply that consumers voicing their disappointment with a policy and questioning the "company line" we are given for it are just whiners - are just as tiresome if not more. We have a right to these opinions just as you do yours. Don't like it quit reading the thread.

Hahahaha I had a similar experience with apple chat.I told them I was switching from windows and I asked if mac OS came with a c++ compiler or if I would have to buy one (and what it was called) and I got "Mac OS is the most advances operating system in the world! It can even run windows if you need to." Um..no...I dont wanna run windows....and I STILL dont know the answer to my question lol.

Hehe...yea...I just love it when I walk into a store and I know more about the products than the employees do. Yet...I don't have a job....go figure.

Unlike Microsoft, Apple gives development tools away for free. Thier IDE is called XCode and has C++ capabilities. You can either download it from their site, or install it from your OSX install disc. You can also check from the terminal if gcc is installed...tho that probably has to be installed from the disc aswell.

You are also whining. You are comparing a hardware upgrade to a software upgrade?

Wrong! I am talking about functionality and usability.

An automobile is a large chunk of hardware. It's made to go from point A to point B and nothing else.

If a car is sold without accessories and you buy it that way then you were satisfied at the time of purchase that that's what you wanted and that the price was acceptable to you.

If, a month later, the identical car at a reduced price is offered for sale and a similar car is offered at the price you paid, but with additional "software" in the form of power windows, power seats and alloy wheels, there's no way in the world that the dealer is going to retroactively install the additional accessories on you car or give you a rebate for the difference in price.

That's the way of the business world. Products are sold; products are improved; prices are dropped on older versions.

That, especially, is the way of the consumer electronics world. Look at computers. One day you pay $1000 for a 40GB, 1GHz computer with X amount of RAM. Two months later you can pay $800 for a 120GB, 3GHz with 5X RAM. Same thing with Digital Cameras. Same thing with iPods.

Grow up folks, quit crying about this subject. You got what you paid for.

No, it is apples and oranges. You are talking about hardware that can't be upDATED, not software updates. Even so, if your car A/C is not hooked up you can take your car back and they'll fix it. Microsoft sends out new functionality all the time for free without fear of SOx and they are supposed to be the big evil guys.

Not all of us, mine shipped on the day Apple says 'everything shipped on or after 1/15 will have the new apps'. That aside, what's the difference between the iPt getting email and notes and Windows users getting Windows Defender or the .Net framework or IE7. Or how about this. Office 2007 has a new file format. Office 2003 users can't read it. "Oh well, too bad, you knew what you were buying so stop whining?" No, the EVIL Microsoft gives everyone a patch to read the new formats.

Bottom line is that it's clearly a choice Apple made. Many of us are voicing disagreement with that. You can call it whining if you want but by the same token aren't you-who-call-it-whining just blind zombie followers of the equally evil Apple?

bump

First Tech, Minneapolis,MN an authorized apple retailer has 1.1.2 16gig touches for $320.00, I just picked one up yesterday.

WHAAAAA.

Say it with me. You get what you pay for. You aren't entitled to ANYTHING beyond that.
