Apple today announced three new games coming to Apple Arcade in January, including Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom, Cornsweeper, and Blackjack by MobilityWare+. All games on Apple Arcade are ad-free and do not offer in-app purchases.

Apple's description of Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom:
Embark on a heartwarming experience in Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom, joining adorable hero Mametchi in restoring harmony to the Tamagotchi planet after a mysterious impact shakes the kingdom.
Cornsweeper:
A meditative mind-sweep-em-up, players pop delicious popcorn and avoid explosions, all set to a relaxing and original lo-fi inspired soundtrack with some reggae infusions.
Blackjack by MobilityWare+:
Players can immerse themselves in the classic game of Blackjack, mastering its intricacies in Blackjack by MobilityWare+.
Apple Arcade received its first price increase in October. In the U.S., the subscription-based gaming service went from $4.99 per month to $6.99 per month.

Launched in November 2019, Apple Arcade is accessible through the App Store. The service provides subscribers with unlimited access to around 300 games across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, with new titles added periodically.

Raising the prices on all these services makes me sad. I liked the idea that we pay a premium for the hardware and get services and software at reasonable prices. My personal protest is to never buy hardware directly from Apple at full price again. For what that's worth.

That seems to be their new business model. It used to be that the education discount was the cheapest you could get anything, save perhaps refurb. Now, immediately after new products come out they are on sale for 10-15% off just like many other manufacturers.

Still not enough compelling content. Not to mention that there still isn’t a way to keep your progress if a game moves off Arcade. Dreamlight Valley might be the only game to be worth the subscription fee for some, but imagine if Apple pulls it from the service after users have years of progress and custom content they created in it.

At least with Game Pass, you can purchase the game when it leaves the service and lose nothing.

Arguably Arcade is more focused on kids, but as far as I’ve seen kids seem to feel Apple Arcade has a bad reputation for fun games.

Does anyone know, what happens if you unsubscribe from Apple Arcade? Do you lose access to any of the games you 'purchased' through it?

Inflation hits everyone. Including large companies like Apple, with 160,000+ employees who appreciate salary raises and good benefits.

does anyone use this terrible service ? I certainly don't.
I just got a three-month trial when I bought a backbone controller for my iPhone. I downloaded all the games that I am interested in and not renew the trial.

It feels like Apple Arcade is primarily focused on parents subscribing for getting games to their kids. Nothing wrong with that, but when considering that in the coming months Netflix will be bringing in:

-GTA trilogy
-Hades
-Braid
-Katana Zero

On top of other solid titles. There are good games on Apple Arcade. But to paraphrase a quote someone posted on here a while back "I believe Apple believes they are taking gaming seriously."

By the way Apple has their own Blackjack game. Always has. Never promoted it once, found it on the "Apps By Apple" page buried deep.

Anyway, clicked headline expecting to be underwhelmed, was not disappointed. I feel like Apple Arcade exists to check some corporate box regarding services. Gaming, check.

I noted the Apple One pricing went up, these games aren't worth it really. Only a couple on Arcade are. Will consider if I keep paying next year or not. Or reduce it back to a couple of services only.

Apple could easily make this a must-have service. License better games, aquire some developers, port games to Mac and make the iPhone/iPad a real console.. start with all of the retro arcade and konsole stuff that people use emulators for as an easy first step.

I signed up for a three-month trial earlier this year because Apple Arcade's price of $4.99 was very compelling. I decided to ditch all the free games with their annoying and inappropriate ads in favor of Apple Arcade for my family. However, I was disappointed when they increased the price. Despite this, I will continue to use the service. If they increase the price again, I will have to cancel my subscription. In my opinion, there is not enough content on Apple Arcade, just like the content on Apple TV+.

I agree, but there is still not enough compelling content. The only game I enjoyed is Cityscapes: Sim Builder from Apple Arcade.

When EA bought Sim City, I was disappointed as I had hoped they would revive Sim City 4, which is one of the greatest games ever made. Unfortunately, I doubt it will ever see a comeback.

Another reason to steer clear from any and all subscriptions. They will keep raising the price and because you’re so dependent of it you can’t cancel.

I agree with this statement. As subscription prices for various services continue to rise, I've noticed that I've become "I agree with this statement. As subscription prices for various services continue to rise, I've noticed that I've become more reliant on them. However, I'm determined to resist this dependence. As of now, I've canceled many of my streaming subscriptions and only kept the ones that I find most compelling.

I keep trying it but only because it’s in my Apple One bundle. Still waiting over 2 years for a killer game that could justify the service. I try many of the games but usually on my Apple TV. There’s a disconnect between casual games like these and sitting in front of a TV with a controller. Either I’m just looking for a truly immersive games for adults or I’m doing something wrong.

Retro emulators would be great but I don’t think they want to get in the nightmare business of licensing games, especially when many of those developers no longer exist or are now owned by greedy companies that overvalue their IP. As soon as someone figures out a way to distribute and profit, everyone has their hands out.

MobilityWare's Solitaire feels like it should be a free/ad-supported app only.

Selling Blackjack in as a positive after a price-hike is going to hurt some expectations at this rate.

I might give it a month, complete Asphalt 8, and end my subscription.
