The developer site shows Mac as a platform I think? So maybe soon... https://www.cornfox.com/oceanhorn-2

Just curious what makes it unplayable? I haven't tried it myself, but is the ATV 4th gen just not powerful enough? I have read rumors that the next ATV should use the chipset found in the current iPad Pro (2018).

I have a Mac Mini 2018 with integrated graphics, and when I tried playing Sayonara Wild Hearts on it (works nicely on ATV or my iPhone XS Max), it stutters consistently every 5 seconds or so. No idea if it's the Mac Mini not being able to handle it full screen, or some other reason. I guess I'll need to read supported or recommended devices more carefully.

Thanks for the reply! I did see that on the website at well maybe they are working out the bugs for the macOS release.

cutscenes and game play frame rates drop drastically I think the game should be optimized for the Apple TV 4 it runs great on iPhone though! it could be the hardware in the Apple TV a A8 vs A11( iPhone 7) is a huge difference. I might get the Apple TV 4K and see how well it performs with a A10X fusion or I'll wait for a refresh.. If anything I'll enjoy the full experience on the ps4. :)

I want a game that is no bigger than 50mb and is a quick bathroom break type of game. These epic RPGs/Action/Storyline games dont even fit on my phone. I just want a game that I can play and not pay for more moves or gems for powerups...

Does anyone know if Oceanhorn 2 will be available on the Mac ? it's unplayable on the 4th generation Apple TV ! and I don't want to play a gorgeous looking game on a small display such as the iPhone.

It is playable on the 4th gen, I have been playing it. It's just not as smooth of a gameplay as a typical system should be, but not so laggy that it is annoying.

Apple Arcade has done really well in attracting immersive 3D games, but I hope they don't forget about the "puzzle" category. I'd also like to see card games and crosswords and stuff.

It doesn't all have to be FPSs.

I don't recall seeing a single FPS on Arcade.

You should check out the following for puzzle/card/word:

  • Tint
  • Dear Reader
  • Hexaflip
  • Word Laces
  • Pilgrims
  • Grindstone
  • Assemble with Care
  • Patterned
  • Card of Darkness
  • ChuChu Rocket! Universe
  • Mini Motorways
  • Cardpocalypse
  • Spelldrifter

I am still waiting for some good platformers along the lines of Uncharted, Oddworld or Beyond Good Vs evil, not saying these specific games, but this style of gameplay. Other than the Alto games, I am not too much into the Indy style games.

Interesting to see ShockRods among the games added! I had and eye on that game some time a go.
Quoting myself here because I have to say the game plays pretty horribly on the Apple TV 4th Gen. No shadows for the vehicles, low resolution and low frame rate – felt like I was playing a 90s game. :-/

Will probably be better on a newer device – will give it a try on iPhone Xs Max later – but we really need more powerful graphics hardware here. New Apple TV model incoming? Great to see AMD Navi support in the Catalina 10.15.1 beta too.

Edit:
ShockRods looks and plays just as bad on the iPhone Xs Max. Strange. Oceanhorn 2 gives a more polished impression and it's also using the Unreal Engine, so I don't know what's going on here.

I also didn't even make it to the end of the free trial.

The drip feed of mediocre content demanded by the subscription model is exhausting.

If you have an Xbox controller you probably have an Xbox already. If you have a PS4 controller you probably have a PS4 already.

if you have either of those consoles, or for that matter, a SHIELD TV, you don’t need Apple Arcade.

Tried it and realized how useless and a disappointment it was. Canceled my free trial.

Port the Streetfighter series, Ms. Pac-Man, Q-Bert. Bust-A-Move. Tetris. The classics.

Instead of tried and true classics people actually want to play, the concept seems to be more about misguided attempts to reinvent the wheel.

I’ve been totally underwhelmed by the Arcade.
80% of the games seem strategy based.

Anyone recommend a decent puzzle / arcade game ?

I am 40+ so maybe its me!
