Played it this morning before I got out of bed. It's seemed like a reskin of Mariokart. There's even a purple turtle thing you throw instead of a green one. It's great that it plays decently on an iPhone 8 though, but I doubt that I'll play any more than I currently have. idk. Iif I ever get bored enough, maybe.

Too bad it's on Apple Arcade. I'd totally buy this if it was a one time fee.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see it on Switch/Playstation/Xbox/PC. Many other games have made that jump. The exclusivity is just for mobile phones which basically means they’re not releasing it for Android.

It might do, but as yet Electrit Square’s previous game, Detonation Racing, remains exclusive to Apple Arcade.

It looks bad. Ugly, unpolished, uninspired, and, thus far, unfun. Much like other mario kart imitations we've had in the past few decades. It surprises me how big companies like Apple and Google seem to express interest in wooing console gamers but then put no effort into it.
So you haven’t tried. I did. Actually very well made and comes close to Mario Kart.

Haven’t had a long session with this, but the graphics are really good for this type of game and the environments are pretty cool.

They published their first one. This one, 20th Century Games is the publisher. And, I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple Arcade is a proving ground for the concept and, if they think micro transactions will pay off, I can imagine them pushing other developers to bring the game to other platforms.

I know with Grindstone, the developer wasn’t sure the idea was worth pursuing as a full game, so they released to Apple Arcade, saw a lot of engagement, tweaked the options based on customer feedback then rolled it out to the Switch.

Dismissing the opinions of people who haven't already paid money for it introduces bias ?‍♂️ If the game really was well made the characters faces would be animated, the voices wouldn't be extracontextual audio snippets from the tv-series, the game design would show some originality and the trailer would show fun gameplay instead of just relying on recognizable characters.

The same reaction, mariokart reskin, the dynamics feel the same, even the acceleration timing is the same 1 in 1

Bare-bone one handed keyboard controls. A and D to turn left and right. Shift to drift. And space bar to use an item. Couldn’t find a way to adjust them, and they feel a bit clunky too.

Wake me when they make Simpsons kart racing game. Or even Futurama now that their cast and crew is all back together.

I remember playing this back in 1992, how odd they changed the name. Was called Mario Kart back in the day. ?‍♂️

Played it

It’s far too simplistic and devoid of content for me to enjoy but it did introduce me to Solar Opposites, which I did enjoy

But why the auto accelerate? Full speed ahead only.
And weird controller scheme – can't control the turning with the D-pad and R2 and L2 are used to ”throw” and drift. Non of the other buttons seems to be usable in the game.

I think it could be better with some tweaks.
And no local co-op? Need more local co-op games.
