jKmxxx said:ok everyone I have the story for the PowerBook shipping.
From Apple they say they have given out 48 new PB of each models nation wide. For this week is their first releast and by next week every Apple shop should have the mass products coming in.
Thats all I know so far![]()
Good luck to everyone

aswitcher said:Well good work in getting the info.
So this reinforces what I heard. Stock models this week, BTOs next week. I do hope that I am in the first batch next week...

My brand new pb is acting a little wonky (it froze completely yesterday). So be prepared to return it if theres something wrong. If you wait too long after you purchase it, it gets harder to ask for a repair as part of the warantee. But if your powerbook is execellent,be grateful that your one of the few.

What were you doing when your Powerbook froze? Which apps were open? etc. You can troubleshoot the problem and try and figure out what was going on when the PB froze. Did the spinning beachball come up or was the system just not responsive for a while...
RE: ' be grateful that your one of the few' - that comment is a bit of a worry, have you heard of any others having the same problem?
Check the Apple Discussions forums to check it out:

Not sure about cc charges and postage...
eni said:Mine shipped!
Email says will get it within 7 days...can't wait.
Wow, those are good prices! Thanks for the tip.
Mine hasn't been ordered long (less than a week BTO, not considering credit card not transferring funds and another unrelated ID problem) so other people who are waiting should have theirs in their hands pretty soon.
Edit:
By the way, what exactly does Shipped mean? Does that mean shipped from the factory to Australia, or shipped from Australia for delivery? (Not that I mind either way, just curious. The info Apple provides seems a little vague.).
oingoboingo said:From the 4 things I've ordered from Apple direct in the past (my 1.6GHz G5, Mac OS X 10.3, .Mac and iLife '04, 'shipped' means "it's coming in the next few days".
YMMV on the PowerBooks though. Good luck. Hopefully you get it in time to play with it over the weekend![]()
eni said:Thank You! I'm excited now (even though it probably is 'better' if it comes later as I have so much work to do at the moment.........heheheh....work....).
I wouldn't mind having your desktop here to play with eitherIf you ever get bored of it.......
(PS It's probably best if you ignore this post. Exhausted person plus surprisingly early apple product apparently does not mix very well)
aswitcher said:So you got a CUSTOM PB in a week!![]()
Apple seem to be prioritising their own stock a little over the resellers ...Mmm... If I don't hear anything by Friday I'll be chasing my reseller to see what gives...
Reuven said:I could not agree more Apple does seem to be prioritising I orded my BTO PB on the 20th April and Still no PB so poped into DJS as the 14 working day period expired today and it seems I will receive it no later then this time next week !
If I do not receive it by then I will have to get in contact will apple & take it further as this is more then enough waiting time!![]()
