Apple has started processing refunds for the iPhone 4 bumper cases to online Apple Store orders. Existing back-ordered bumper cases have also been processed for refund. We expect the process will continue over the next few days. Apple is also expected to provide a method for in-store purchasers to also receive a refund but has provided no details yet.

Apple announced last week that they would be providing free bumper cases to all iPhone 4 customers and providing refunds for those who have already purchased them. The bumper cases help alleviate the signal loss issues experienced by some on the iPhone 4.

I'm still waiting for my iPhone 4, let alone the bumper. I'm convinced the rumors of "intentional international shortages" are true.
 
This is great for people who purchased their case/bumper from Apple--but I got mine directly from Speck. I guess that makes me eligible to get a free case from Apple though I don't know what I'll do with it.
 
Interesting approach. Appears to apply only to online Apple Store. Questions:

1. What if the bumper wasn't purchased with the phone? Then they won't know that you received a refund and aren't entitled to a free case and you could double up.

2. What if you purchased in a store?
 
I've actually received 2 mails with refund confirmation (I bought 2 bumpers 1 for me 1 for friend) so If you bought more than 1 it seems they will refund every bumper and not just 1
 
I bought mine in store and have the apple store receipt. I think I paid by CC. Rather than a refund, just give me an Apple Store gift card. I've need something over $30 from there. I would really like to see the case options for the 3rd party cases as my Dad wants back coverage for his iP4 that he just got and as I am going to visit him next week, I would like to see him get his case ordered soon.
 
I wonder what they'll do for me. The credit card I bought the iPhone with got stolen recently and I had to close the # and get a new number. I wonder how the refund will be processed... :confused:
 
Nice but....

Nice but when will they ship? I ordered mine on July 14th and it has still not shipped. I received the email that they are selling it without any costs, except shipping (I think the free shipping is a mis-print on here).

I just wnat my bumper so I can get some better call quality, hopefully.
 
This is cool! I wonder when they're going to start letting people who didn't buy a bumper order one. Hopefully soon! I'm interested in seeing what cases they are going to offer being that they can't make enough bumpers.
 
What happens to people who got it in the Apple Store? Do we show the receipt? Does anybody have info on how its going to work?
 
I bought 5 bumpers alone (4 for other people) and only received one email about this. Not sure if they will refund them all or just one piece.

Would suck if I didn't receive a refund for those other 4...
 
Watch the refund be an apple store credit. ;)

When will I be able to order my white bumper for free? I hope you don't have to order it and then wait for a refund.
 
While i'm grateful for the free case (because I don't have any problems with my phone), I hope apple has a robust selection of cases available, if they chose to make the "free 3rd party case or $30 towards one" deal happen. I'd really like the splurge for another Vaja case but really i'll be good with anything that has a holster.
