Apple Beginning to Process Refunds for iPhone 4 Bumpers

I'll tell you what happened.
I bought the iPhone from Phones4U, then I called them and they said they don't do refunds, and I should go to Vodafone. I called Vodafone and they said I should go to Apple, or wait Apple announces something. I went to Apple they said I should buy a Bumper and it would solve my problems. I did and it didn't help.
I called Vodafone and told them it didn't help. I got a Genius report from the tech guys stating I should get a new phone. I called Vodafone again and they said they can't give me a new phone because they don't have any. Same goes from Phones4U as well as Apple. I was told to wait, wait and wait.
So in general I've been waiting for one of the three companies to tell me what's going to happen next. I can't have a phone with a contract for 24 months that doesn't connect or can't hold call. It's just an expensive iPod Touch in that case.
I've been tossed around left and right and I get no results and I'm really getting very frustrated now. The woman who sold me the bumper at the store, was a massive pain, she was rude and defensive.
I love the iPhone 4, but if it just would do a simple call without me having to hold it like it's made out of foam, I'd actually keep it.
it's been such a bad experience and I can't really figure out what to do anymore.
While you wait for a replacement to become available, can you get a blutooth ear piece? I would think using an ear piece would allow you to keep your hands off of the phone while making a call.

I wonder what they'll do for me. The credit card I bought the iPhone with got stolen recently and I had to close the # and get a new number. I wonder how the refund will be processed...
I'm in a similar situation. There was fraudulent activity on my card and I was issued a new card number. I would hope the bank would know to just move the credit on to the new number. This situation must come up enough that banks know what to do. After all, it is still the same account, just with a different credit card number.

they'll still credit it to the old number, which will go through and show up on your account (same account, different number)... only charges made to the old/cancelled numbers won't process....

What about those of us who have an iPhone 4 but haven't yet bought a bumper? How do we do it?

Yes, he said he would have to offer 3rd party cases because they cannot make enough bumpers quickly for all the iPhones. But he, or one of the panel in the q and a were clear they would not refund all 3rd party cases so far.
So you'll have to see what else is offered on the website.

How much do you think any other cases cost to manufacture? Do you think Iskin's $30 cases are made for $29 and they only make $1 off of them? No. Every case is just like the Apple case - they are all very cheaply made and marked up for a very high profit. I bought a number of cases for my 3G and never felt they were particularly good-fitting or protective, aside from the Speck Candyshell. The Apple Bumper is extremely well made and matches up to all openings and buttons in a way I've never seen ANY case manage to do. I'm not being a fanboy here, I'm just impressed. You can be as jaded as you want, but the bumper is a very well made accessory.
And, seriously, "idiots"? Why the need to be so insulting? When the choices are some VERY ugly cases that wind up screwing up flash photos or the at-least-attractive bumper, and it helps with the antenna problem, why are people "idiots" for choosing that option? Please explain your rudeness.
Went into Glasgow Apple Store today and asked them if they were doing refunds. They said they were.
However, they would have to take my old bumper off me; give me my refund, and I would need to wait a couple of more weeks to get my free bumper. Whuck?

I'm not saying the bumper is worth near 30 dollars, but a lot more goes into making it than just materials.

Went by the Apple Store & they said I had to order the cases online.
That was also said during Steve Jobs press conference. You didn't get the memo.
BTW, why are there so many negatives on this article? Apple is issuing money back to people plus shipping and any VAT charges. Are people insane here? Why would anyone vote negative for a company making good on refunds on a timely manner.
