Wait, they're trying to do this automatically? I bought my iPhone 4 using a different account and cc than I used to buy my bumper. How will they handle that?

Walmart Buyers

What if I purchased my iPhone at a Walmart? Will the be a mechanism for me to provide my SN and get my bumper that way? Haven't seen anything on this anywhere.

Interesting approach. Appears to apply only to online Apple Store. Questions:

1. What if the bumper wasn't purchased with the phone? Then they won't know that you received a refund and aren't entitled to a free case and you could double up.

2. What if you purchased in a store?

Just spoke with an Apple rep who said ALL bumper purchases will be automatically refunded and only to the account used to make that purchase.

Did Steve Jobs say that they will also offer 3rd party cases since they don't have enough bumpers?

Every article I read just mentions bumpers. Am I the only one that heard that from Steve Jobs?

I've actually received 2 mails with refund confirmation (I bought 2 bumpers 1 for me 1 for friend) so If you bought more than 1 it seems they will refund every bumper and not just 1

Thanks for the tips Vile, was wondering about that...

I hope they allow for the zCover cases to be one of the free ones. Had one on my 3G-S and it was an amazing cover. Great shock-absorption for those who are prone to drop their phone. I take mine when I go running, so I like to make sure it's well-protected. -- And being that it costs $5 less than the bumper, MAYBE I'll get lucky.

Anyone have any insight as to how :apple: will handle those who purchased the bumper without the iPhone from the online store? My bumper is on my desk waiting for the white iP4. Being that the bumper was a long lead item (had a three week ship window at time of purchase - btw, as of now all bumpers are showing unavailable), I figured I'd have it by the time the white iP4 arrives or shortly after. I received my bumper earlier this week on 7/19 and purchased/ordered from the online store on 7/8.

umm, cuz ppl will continue to buy the iphone after 9/30, which i believe is the cut off date. they'll need and want one.

IIRC, didn't Apple say they will try to fix the antenna issue, and determine by 9/30 whether or not they'll continue giving away bumpers?

So they may still give out bumpers after 9/30, which I think will happen.

remember that if quantities remain super low, someone will buy one rather than wait (if that's the "case"). I know I would if the price was legit.

I hope i can take my receipt into an apple store and get a free bumper, im not ordering one and paying shipping.

This is all really nice,

But as of yet I've not heard anything from Apple UK telling us to stand in line to get a refund for our bumpers or a free one. And of course no mentioning of the return of the iPhones. Apple Regent Street UK says they know nothing... meaning I'm passing the 30 day return. Screwing me over again. I hate this...:(

If you don't plan on returning your phone I wouldn't be that concerned. Perhaps snag a bumper or case?

this sucks

I paid $30 for a case at Best Buy. It's the Griffin Reveal. I got it to help with the signal issues. But, I don't get a refund, even though it is used to fix the issue. This sucks. I would return it but the back plastic has got so scratched up because it's cheap plastic, so I doubt they would take it. I wouldn't. I think I will just take my free bumper and do unmentionable things to it.

Apple, I want my $30 too!

Question - If I keep the free bumper, that is if I don't pee on it and set it on fire, can I return it to the store for credit? Will they come in different packaging? I could always use $30 in iTunes credits too.

I got the Griffin Reveal as well (not for reception issues -- I just anticipate dropping my phone). The Bumper looked like it had a little too much play, and not being able to use my old 3G cable with it annoyed me. I haven't gotten any scratches on the plastic on the back. I can recommend it as a Bumper alternative. I'm very pleased with it.

Thank you for your reply,

I'll tell you what happened.
I bought the iPhone from Phones4U, then I called them and they said they don't do refunds, and I should go to Vodafone. I called Vodafone and they said I should go to Apple, or wait Apple announces something. I went to Apple they said I should buy a Bumper and it would solve my problems. I did and it didn't help.

I called Vodafone and told them it didn't help. I got a Genius report from the tech guys stating I should get a new phone. I called Vodafone again and they said they can't give me a new phone because they don't have any. Same goes from Phones4U as well as Apple. I was told to wait, wait and wait.

So in general I've been waiting for one of the three companies to tell me what's going to happen next. I can't have a phone with a contract for 24 months that doesn't connect or can't hold call. It's just an expensive iPod Touch in that case.

I've been tossed around left and right and I get no results and I'm really getting very frustrated now. The woman who sold me the bumper at the store, was a massive pain, she was rude and defensive.

I love the iPhone 4, but if it just would do a simple call without me having to hold it like it's made out of foam, I'd actually keep it.

it's been such a bad experience and I can't really figure out what to do anymore.
