Thanks gang.... I'm going to swing by the Apple store in Zurich tomorrow but we currently don't have access to Hulu, HBO or Showtime at all. My feeling is that on the US side, it's probably a pretty good upgrade. However, I don't think it'll be worth it here unless there's a built in VPN to get worldwide content (very doubtful). Currently, we watch Netflix and occasionally, the Red Bull station. The rest of the content (mostly baseball, basketball and various concert stations) is wasted on me as I'm a solo endurance sport fan. Thanks again though.
Yeah I have no doubt it's capabilities will grow and TvOS2 will be great but in cases such as yours apps will most likely be the deciding factor.

Nothing wrong with waiting and seeing what comes out for it and taking the plunge later on if it makes sense to do so.

For me I'm cancelling a $120 a month cable bill and buying shows I watch and doing some services such as Netflix and it'll cut my annual bill by 60%.

Same here. I paid for next day delivery and really hope that $ wasn't wasted.

Does it allow you to cancel the order? Mine changed so that I couldn't and when I click why is says "Since your items are ready for shipment we are unable to cancel or change your order." Hoping that means it will ship shortly.

Its normal - once it transitions to "preparing for shipment" you can't cancel it anymore ... makes sense since it is in the process of being packed and shipped. You still could send it back once you get it.

But given that there are still two days until the official launch day, I think we are in good shape and should get it, even if it comes from HK.

For no good reason I just want to have it this weekend to play with it ..... I will not find the time during the week and I would hate to have it sit in a box until next weekend.

I want to order this but I am going to wait on some of the reviews to see if it's good and how well the apps work, etc. Also what size to buy. Hopefully the 32 is sufficient (unlike the abysmal 16GB the phones still come in). I think I'm also going to see if Apple gives a % off on Black Friday. We shall see!

What is this launch date that everyone mentions? Apple never gave a specific date.

UK here. Mine still says processing items with estimated delivery 30 Oct - 3 Nov. Anyone else in the UK had it changed to preparing for shipment?

Launch date being the earliest date that Apple showed in which the device could be received.

When preorders began the earliest date someone could receive it bar a shipping mistake is this Friday.

Also it's "Reported" that Apple stores will be selling them this Friday per Apple Employees. Lastly Tim Cook the CEO of Apple indicated some orders would be shipping at the end of OCT which is this week.

Hope that helps.

Okay...

Well it's been at "preparing for shipment" for two days and would let me cancel it. It had just switched to where I couldn't cancel it. I thought that was perhaps a sign it was about to ship.

I really hope you're right. I feel the same way, I just want it for this weekend because the weekdays get too busy to mess with it that much.

I'm in the UK and my order status is still processing. However, I've had a notification from the Amex app that Apple have taken payment.

It will probably change to preparing for dispatch overnight.

It just changed to preparing for dispatch

It just changed to preparing for dispatch

Is this the UK term for "Preparing for Shipment:" ???

.... the "preparing for dispatch" is not even in the state transcription for the US .... In the US after the "preparing for shipment" the next two stages are "shipped" and "complete" .....

(I am somehow more excited about getting the appleTV than I should be ...)

sure that it wasn't "processing" ? The rule usually is that once it goes in "preparing for shipment" that you can't cancel it anymore but while it is "processing" you can. (also stated that way in the state description on the apple store side)

Mine is still preparing for shipping and I ordered 30 minutes after it appeared on the Apple U.S. site. I selected express overnight shipping.
