good spot @Tastannin

This is at least realistic.

iPhone made in the USA is unrealistic.

Agree. It’s interesting (and a somewhat savvy business move) that they’ve buried the surely-higher production cost in a price point that would be unrealistic for much outside of the target market of this machine. I don’t think consumers would tolerate an unsubsidized price tag on an MBP made here.

Lol that’s what happens if you step out of the display making business for years..

I’m really wondering- will the restrict shipments to US only in the beginning??

I'm confused. They're busy building machines, but no-one has the BTO options yet. Will they spec machines at the factory and then ship overseas – or ship empty cases and then spec them in different territories... or what?

Basically: I want to order one and I want it ASAP. Frankly I couldn't care less where it's manufactured/assembled/whatever.

With only 11 people building the total production run of the Mac Pro for the whole of the Americas they'll need a head start....... ;)

Or better yet, since Macs are considered more professional grade tools vs iOS devices, It'd be great to see Apple assemble all of their Mac products in the USA.
It's not because the product is made in the US that all of a sudden it's a much higher quality product, i'd even argue that the opposite is true as the workers in China would already have years of experience

I don't know about the location, but I'm really curious how many mac pro orders do they have for that insane price ? :)

So customers in the rest if the world have their Mac Pro built with cheap labour in China thus subsidising the overly expensive plant in Texas just so apple can tell US customers “it’s assembled in the USA”.

It's a start. While it's clearly not feasible for all manufacturing to be based in the U.S. cultivating facilities and skilled workers for even a fractional percentage is enormously beneficial.

Apple has set up manufacturing in other countries specifically to avoid tariffs in those regions and they still rake in billions. They can do it here as well and I think Apple can even afford to expand the type and amount of product they make in the U.S. eventually.

I'd like to see Apple assemble the iMac Pro in the US as well.
Fat chance.

My last two 5K iMacs were assembled in the US, so I don't see why an iMac Pro could not be.

Apple does have a major Mac production facility in (Cork?) Ireland that feeds much of the EU. It is possible they could do Mac Pro production destined for the Continent, as well.

We know some Mac Pros are in production with select end-users, so that is probably what these models being shown are along with a mix of models destined to be initial feed stock at Apple Stores.

Go USA, It is good news that they build in the United States, If I had the money or/and need for a computer like that, I would have ordered a unit that was assembled there.

In the spring 2014, I waited 4 months for my 2013 Mac Pro. Hope that they have a better setup now.

It is good that manufacturing returns to developed countries but this is more political than any significant change in attitude from the industry. Too bad, a society need all kinds of work to be sustainable.

Why americans should be particularly good choice to make a Mac Pro is a mystery considering the build quality of an iPhone. Pride? Fine. Incompetence of other countries? Dream on....

I'm leery of the first batch(es). Quality is a concern at this price point. Good luck to those unable to wait.

Makes sense. Especially given the size and weight, I can imagine it saves a lot on cost (and not to mention CO2) to make these in a couple places rather than, for example, ship it from the US to Hong Kong when it’s just as easy to also make it them in Asia.
