I wouldn’t pay $39.00 for this. Not when there are competitive options for a cheaper price point, that may produce a similar result. Apple’s cases are generally very good quality, but $39.00 for a clear case is a bit exaggerated in the price. But the advantage being it at least it still shows the color of the phone versus concealing with a different colored case.
Knowing Apple's recent pricing strategy, I'm surprised this isn't $59...

$39 - but "worth it " because it leaves the bottom bezel unprotected, err sorry "has that signature Apple look."

smh...rationalizing at its best.

Actually, of the two clear cases I tried from Amazon, the bottom of the case interfered with the bottom swipe features. Apple clearly thought about this with their case. I think it's overpriced like most Apple products, but this one appeals to me more than the cheaper alternatives.

Apple has begun selling its long-awaited iPhone XR clear case on Apple.com and at many Apple Stores around the world. The case is priced at $39 in the United States, with online orders placed today estimated for delivery within a few days.

Apple says the case is crafted from a blend of clear polycarbonate and flexible TPU plastics, with a scratch-resistant coating applied to both the exterior and interior. The clear design is appropriate given the iPhone XR is available in a variety of colors, such as yellow, blue, white, coral, and (PRODUCT)RED.

Apple's description of the case:This is the first Apple-branded case available for the iPhone XR since the device launched October 26. Apple mentioned the case in its iPhone XR press release in certain countries back in October, but it only became available to purchase today, limiting customers to third-party options until now.

(Thanks, Joshua!)

Wow!! Only $39?? It’s worth at least $41.17. But seriously, who in their right mind would buy this? It is 3-4 X what this kind of case normally costs. I understand paying more for one of their leather cases or something but this one is just like many others you can get for $10-15. I have a Spigen that was $11.99. Great minimal case. There are many other brands as well. Don’t. Just don’t.

10 bucks says this yellows in a month.

Not implying Apple's quality is shoddy, just I haven't found a clear case yet which doesn't.
This issue seems well sorted... like about 3 years ago.
Nary an issue since then with ANY brand (though I tend to purchase Speck Presidio series, generally).

Fair enough - was was really aiming it at comments about wanting that distinctive apple look, which struck me as absurd for a transparent, unmarked piece of silicon. BTW, here are some cheap cases (not clear however) with the same bottom cutout, if you want a backup:

Funny, I had no problem paying full retail for my sim-free XS Max, but consider $39 for this piece of tat to be utterly egregious and a disgraceful example of gouging haha...

Pretty nice, I’m curious if will last longer than cheap ones.

Agreed, though if someone's gonna make it work, Apple is a likely candidate.

I know the XR comes in pretty colors, but I wish Apple would also make their standard silicone case for it - I've had great luck with their silicone cases on previous iPhones. it's actually one of the things standing in the way of considering an XR, for me. This clear case strikes me as a gimmick, in that it gives up substantial protections that their silicone cases provide, in order for you to be able to see more of the phone. I don't care about others seeing how pretty my phone is, I care about it continuing to work for a long time.

Very odd how this had leaked prior to the XR launch, but then seemed to have disappeared, only now to become available.

I agree, I'd be very surprised if it doesn't.

My wife has been using an XR for nearly 6 weeks with some $10 clear case from Amazon that still looks perfectly clear. Was curious how long a cheap case would last, but still seems quite good.

$40 for something that will show scratches and turn yellow in a month?! No thanks.

$39 dollars? That's a steal ... there are no other makers of clear cases on the market at all.
So clear thumbs up from me.

Oh? I bought a perfectly clear/transparent case for my XR on Amazon a few days after picking up the phone. Cost? $20.

Same here. I purchased a clear/transparent case for my XR a couple of days after picking up the phone. It cost me $20 and it has not turned yellow at all: still looks as good as the day I bought it. I hope this remains the case for the foreseeable future.

My question is why the heck is this £45 in the UK??
Indeed. Bad enough with their 1:1 pricing policy of late but making it worse than that, even though the exchange rate has been in the UK consumer's favour this year compared to last, really is too much.

Never really seen current model Apple products being discounted in the UK before but recently we have seen both iPhones and Macs at discounts from major retailers. Apple's pricing has gone too far.

I think it wouldve been cool if instead of completely clear, they matched the case with a partially transparent matching color, meticulously implemented, so it looks like an extension of the glass and side aluminum

at $39 it looks like a ripoff of a Spigen,

Even this Dynex $9.99 clear TPU is pretty solid, and slim as heck (even though not very protective)

Still not sure waht the hold up was
