I am actually considering returning my MacBook Pro 15 2018.
The fullscreen video playback glitches out. (short multi coloured line popping in and out every so often.)
To test this, just playback some youtube video in safari in fullscreen mode.

*Tried with my friends MBP 15 2018, they all do this. And Googling it reveal people having this issues from the beginning of release. Don't know if Apple is ever gonna fix it. If not fix soon, I am returning it before its too late.

I made a post a few up from this. It is that damn GPU. It is not powerful enough to drive the retina displays. The cMBP is still the Best Buy if you can get one. That or just save money and buy the Air.

I configure our work laptops, and it annoys me that a $600 windows PC is less glitchy and doesn't lag when I resize windows like my $1500 Mac Pro does.

Had some Apple refurbs over the last 15 years, everything from iPods through to Macbooks, iPads and iMacs at some point. All in excellent service.

I feel there will be a lot of 2018 Macbook Pro returns based purely on buyers remorse over pricing. I had a 2018 15'' and after 10 days couldn't justify £2600 when I was experiencing a few issues too - for that price for a single computer I expected my expectations to be exceeded even, maybe I was wanting too much. Apple still ended up with some of my money, I got a Macbook 12'' but with the rest built my own workstation PC.

The GPU isn't to blame for slow Safari or office app performance; it's more than capable of driving a basic 2560x1440 display, and significantly less powerful GPUs have been doing that for like 6 years now.

Try a clean install and see if you have the same issues. If you do, it could be a hardware problem. Shouldn't be that way.

Honest to God, the 13" Pros with Retina display are the worst laptops I have owned. The only reason for this is that the GPU is still not powerful enough to drive the retina display. I see that damn spinning beach ball more times a day than I care to count, and I am only using Safari and the office suite. I never had this issue with the Air line or the 15" line. I am specifically talking about the Pros since the redesign.

I'm not seeing these refurbs in the Canadian store.

Personally, I would never buy a refurbished product. Each and every refurbished Apple product I owned (five iPhones, two Macbook Pros) was either faulty from the very first moment or broke down soon after I got. I think that their 'testing' process cannot detect many flaws...
The same can be said about their brand-new products as well. Personally, I had more problems with their new products and none with their refurbished ones. These are mass products, so it has always been a lottery with them, refurbished or not.

It depends on who is doing the "refurbishing."

Buying Apple refurbished products from Apple is a safe bet in my experience. They look and function indistinguishable from new. They come with new, never used pack-ins, and depending on the product a new display or battery.

But there are 100s of sellers who advertise "refurbished" Apple products. Read the reviews of people who have bought from them. Some are good, others not so much. It's definitely a gamble. The products they're selling are used models that people sold to Gazelle, BuyBackWorld, etc. The condition of these units is highly variable, some are very obviously used and others are in decent shape.

It is not even worth trying. I have gone through a new Mac every year since 2015 to see if they work better than the last. It is an issue with their laptops. Resizing a window in word is a laggy joke. Don't even get me started on the new news app.

My refurbished MBP 13" 2013 had a weird keyboard issue where an entire row would stop working until you rebooted the computer. They did their hardware test and at the Apple Store, gave me an new in box Macbook. The warranty is the same as new. I'll still recommend them when the price is right.

I bought a refurbished iMac (27-inch, Late 2013 with NVDIA GPU) when I saw Apple switch to AMD video cards, and it's still my main machine for video editing.

I upgraded my refurbished 2011 MacBook Pro to 32GB RAM and swapped out the spinning HD for an SSD. Aside from being too old to install Mojave, it's still running just fine.
Hey I have a 2011 MacBook pro, it works ok with 32 gigs of ram?

Not even the highest spec is over $3k refurb.

But they are...
"A refurbished maxed-out model with a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 2TB of flash storage, 16GB of RAM, and Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 is available for $3,139 in the United States, reflecting savings of $560 off Apple's regular price of $3,699. This configuration is currently limited to Space Gray."

32gigs? isn't that one limited to 16 and intel gpu to 512mb (from 384) shared memory even if you upgrade RAM?

Thanks for the heads up on this issue.

I'm still waiting for Apple to release a laptop I like that bests my 2013 MBA. i really dislike the current models' keyboards, oversized trackpads, and touch bar.

I have a 2017 model and have no delays at all.

So cynical here. Just get a Windows machine.

People forget they are paying for software, user experience, security and support when buying Apple products. All you hardware comparers are missing the point.

Now if only the hardware wasn't missing MagSafe and flexible/convenient USB ports.

My mistake. I was thinking of the iMac. I edited the original post now. Yes I maxed it out to 16 gigs of ram, not 32.

VRAM on the integrated GPU is 512 MB.

It also has the AMD Radeon with 1024 MB of VRAM though (which was fine at the time).

I'm opposite as you. Bought refurbished products from Apple for 15 years now. Never had a single problem.

Apple has their own reasons to get rid of MagSafe...whatever they are, they are probably justified.

The thunderbolt ports are the most versatile port you can have. You can plug basically anything into them, which is why Apple gave you 4.
