I can't believe this design is still in the line-up. And the specs.

The regular iPads, iPads Air and iPads Pro were never as far apart in specs and design as they are now. You don't even get lamination on this tiny screen, and it's incompatible with Apple Pencil 2nd Gen. Wow.

Really goes to show how adamant Apple are about pushing you to buy a more expensive model.

Anything but the iPads Pro are really a terrible value by comparison.

The design is time tested and many people prefer those bezels to keep a good grip on the iPad as well as keep fingerprints off of the actual screen.

The specs are fine for an entry-level iPad, not sure what you’re expecting for $329 USD.

Yes, the iPad is far from the iPad Pro in specs, and it also starts at 2x the price, so it should be far away in specs from this iPad.

The laminated screen makes screen repairs easy and more cost effective. I don’t notice it on my 6th Gen iPad. I have a Pencil, which works just fine with it and charging is nowhere near as hard as people make it out to be.

Apple isn’t pushing the more expensive models to anyone. This model gives excellent value for the money, especially for older people and for kids or if you just need an extra iPad to control HomeKit, viewing content, et al.

Not everyone wants or needs an iPad Pro or can afford an iPad Pro.

I don't understand those peoples buying old, used hardware for very little discounts.
The discount may or may not be enough, but I would never consider Apple refurbished as used. I have bought many Macs and iPads that were refurbs and they all worked perfectly and were not distinguishable from new besides the packaging.

Hey @Joe Rossignol, shouldn’t the graphic for this story reflect the correct price of $279 and not $179? I did a double take when I saw it thinking Apple has never sold an iPad that cheaply.

Why does the picture say $179 and the story says $279?

Why does the picture show $179, if the price is $279?

Am I crazy or does the photo say $179?

If it was $179 I would actually jump on it

$179!! Then I actually read the post

$179 or $279? The picture says 179. I would be all over that at 179!

Why does the image with the article say "$179"?

14 hours later and the hero image still says $179

:p

Why does the image still say $179?

Yes, if it actually was $179 I'd pick up one as well!

Fixed now — apologies and thanks everyone for flagging this!

It’s a touchscreen. You’re supposed to touch it and get fingerprints on it.

I think you meant to say, "Thanks to everyone for clicking on this story for the past 14 hours before I 'fixed' the graphic." ;)
No, I used a different image when I originally published the story and our graphics designer added in a custom image with a price about 12 hours after I published. He simply made a typo with the price.

Also I don’t get paid based on traffic, so clicks are irrelevant to me.

Guess you missed the ;) in my post.
