And even if I wanted a 12 mine, $70 isn't enough for me to forfeit a new one.
This is such a sad effort on the pricing front..

I mean -- c'mon Apple..
Really?

I'm not saying $100 ($70 with carrier connectivity discount) is significant savings versus current retail but IF someone wanted an iPhone 12 mini from Apple, what is really gained by going new? The refurbished phone has a new battery and outer shell, same 1 year warranty as new, same OS and security updates, qualifies for AC+, etc. You're essentially getting all of the attributes of a new phone for $200 less than its original launch price in 2020 and $100 less than its current retail price.

Just as only a single iPhone 11 size is offered today, Apple will probably offer only the 6.1" iPhone 12 in September, priced reduced by $100 to $599.

iPhone 13 and 13 mini will probably remain in the line up at $699 and $599, respectively. The question then is, which $599 iPhone will be more popular, iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 mini? I would normally bet on iPhone 12. But with iPhone 13 mini most likely the only mini in the line up, and very likely the last of its kind, perhaps it will be a surprise hit?
I'd buy the 13 mini if only for the extra hour of battery life and possibly additional year of OS support. Though we don't know how Apple is going to phase out support in the future for phones that have several years of models that are largely in the same performance envelope with few if any real differentiating tech other than slightly different cameras.

Not much of a discount for a refurb. I love my 12 mini, just the right size. But the 13 mini apparently is the better buy just on battery performance alone. Mine is down to 83% after nearly two years of admittedly heavy use. Still gets through the work day, although by the end of the evening it’s down below 20%.

I have the 12 mini. Hate that it dims so quickly when it gets warm. My daughter's 13 mini doesn't perform tons better. My wife's 13 pro will also dim due to heat but similar to 13 mini. It's seems to be a problem that can't be solved.

I run into this all the time too with every iOS device I have (iPad Mini, iPad Pro, iPhone 13 Pro). I'm assuming it's because of the (lack of) thermal management on portable devices? Still very annoying.

Cancel the Mini series and then just overcharge everyone for refurb Mini devices

Lovely..

Good point

I also personally preferred the blue in the 12 generation over the current one on the 13's
Yes, not a fan of any of the 13 colors vs the 12 counterparts. That 12 purple is just gorgeous. I would have jumped on that if they would have offered it from the beginning, I went with the Blue, or if they would have retained it for the 13!

If you sell your used iPhone 12 Mini to apple they will offer you "up to $300"

$579 for a refurb 128 GB 12 mini.
$649 for a new 128 GB 12 mini.
$699 for a new 128 GB 13 mini.

The pricing structure needs some work.

Yeah, it's ridiculous -- like almost offensive honestly, especially when carrier deals get factored in.

The Apple pricing is like that of a luxury store at a Mall or something.

I bought the iPhone SE 3 for my mom because I just wanted to maintain consistency going from a 6s. That physical Touch ID button is a pretty critical piece of memory muscle.
What does that have to do with this post? Lol

Have the other 12 models made it to the refurb store yet? Wonder why it took so long for the mini.

People keep saying the mini is "going away" but it seems certain they will continue selling it alongside the iPhone 14.
Also with rumors indicating that the upcoming standard iPhone models will have the same A15 chip and notch, you may as well say the only new iPhone coming out this year is the Plus/Max sized model.

Really?

For this price they could at least include an external battery pack that they know you'll need..

(there's a reason they made the 13 mini battery so much bigger - lol)
To be fair, without such sour price points, Apple would not please shareholders and investors and gain growth despite everything. Hurt customer in some way to please other people, is considered fair trade for Apple.

Obviously, if someone really REALLY favour mini form factor, price is less of a concern.

12 mini was my favorite iPhone ever. Almost regret upgrading to 13 Pro for Pro Motion.
Mine too. I bought a 13 mini thereafter (which broke), but I eventually realized the 12 mini was my favorite. Very light in the hand, and well balanced without the larger camera module. The screen is just big enough in my opinion.

That's good to know, I'm all for small and light phones. Excited for mines to arrive soon.
