Man the Aussie version is ugly. I’ve never seen a protruding version like this they’ve all been basically the same as the US version except for the prongs...

Really one of the worst comments I've ever read. Apple not only released one of the first two laptops to ever use USB-C, they were instrumental in designing USB-C for everyone that uses it.

Can I vouch for the non-quality of their stuff? I have owned five of their best lightning cables with the nylon fiber casing, every single one of them died for no known reason. They've also been replaced by Anker at least one time each, two for a couple of them.

I own Anker batteries, wall chargers, USB-C hubs, etc. They're one of the better third parties but their prices are not far below Apple's.
Apple designed USB-C to work for everyone except iPhone users?! Your logic is hilarious! Come on, let’s get real here.

I own two out of three of those...but you do realize they cover more than one outlet socket and Apple's does not, right? They're not the same thing by any stretch.

He will be scrolling up to chargers that are not quite as good, are larger, and in one case is a charging hub.

We aren't talking about Apple's MBP chargers, we are talking about the 18w iPad Pro charger, which is not much larger than an iPhone charger and just as light. The 5-port charger you are showing has only one USB-C port on it, which makes them annoying when you've moved most everything to USB-C already.

Which comes from experience. Apple has had the best service and quality of any electronics company I've ever dealt with, and I go through so much of this stuff you'd probably think I'm crazy. Anker has a great warranty, but I've got an over 50% failure rate with their products so far and I own about 20 of them.

Yeah, I’ve had great experiences with Apple support, but their products aren’t flawless. My 2016 MBP wouldn’t stay up for more then a few days when connecting to my LG 5K for a full year before they fixed it. I never had a lightning cable last more then a couple years. It also doesn’t mean that Apple is the only company with good products. I own just as many of their products and haven’t had a single one fail.

I haven’t even taken my charger out of the box since I have plenty of other usb-c chargers from my other devices. Can’t wait until Apple finally moves to usb-c on iPhone.

Even the black 5-port, they're all smaller than one of Apple's MBP chargers. I'm actually using the 2-port right now; the USB-PD port is charging my iPP and the PiQ port is running my Anker Powerwave, charging my XS (I was tethering back and forth between them to update to 12.1.1).

Right, there are a lot of things smaller than the MBP chargers, but not smaller than the charger from the article we're replying to. It's quite good, this new offering. I'm just wondering if there are comparatives.

Just to reiterate, this charger (this article) is really pretty well sized for travel. I usually try to get two small chargers -- one for a carry-on bag, one for suitcase, works very well for redundancy and portability. Honestly I've done some digging since my original response and frankly I think that the Apple USB-C charger here is a win - it's really small, simple, and solid.

If there is anything smaller or equal size with greater wattage it'd be great to know.

There is no point in buying this. I can get the same charger from google (18W) for the same price, and the google one also includes a 2m usb-c cable!

So no more bitching about the price of a fast charger??? lol. Who am I kidding. Apple could sell these for $5 and people would still complain.

Do people stop to think that maybe apple doesn’t include a fast charger because they know it’s going to kill the battery faster???

Then why the **** Apple selling this faster charger now? To help you kill battery faster? Why should they even include the capability in the first place?

Clearly Apple doesn’t think fast charging will kill the battery faster. Apple just too cheap to include a fast charger. For the loving god, you see some 300 dollars Android phone with fast charger included. Apple just does not want give up this 30 dollar revenue.

Be careful when using third party charger. It is best to use first party charger.

Someday, when Apple stops acting like its too good for the rest of the world, there will be a “universal” cable that can be used to charge EVERY device. They should call it USB-C.
No, not a USB-C to lightning cable.
That would defeat the whole purpose of being “universal.”
Get with it already Apple.

The new iPads do have usb-c, as do the latest MacBooks. So it looks like Apple is moving in that direction.

Can iPhone 7 series charge at 18W? I find my iPhone 7 Plus charges at nearly the same speed whether on the included 5W charger or a 12W iPad charger.
Nope. The 7 Plus only supports 12W charging just like the 6 plus and 6S Plus before it.
18W support started with iPhone 8, 8Plus and X

Perhaps you should have looked at Anker gear, which will have many people on here who can vouch for the quality of their stuff, me included, and still have our houses standing.
Great products, they have a single port USB-C for the same price as apple, but triple in size.

So does this charge the iPhone Xs any slower than the 30w one they sell for $49?
No difference. If you plug the 30W charger, it will charge at 18W as this is the maximum supported by the phone.
[doublepost=1544102990][/doublepost]In the UK it's £29 and £19 for the USB-C to Lightning cable. Thats £48 to charge a phone. No thanks

Read that the 30W charger was the optimal one (and also the only one mentioned by Apple to be used as Iphone fast charger) and the more expensive ones were unnecessary, but that was before this one was released. Bought the 30W on black friday for use with Iphone 8, guess I could just as well return it tomorrow and get the 18W instead and save some.

Is that the one that has a single USB-C port and 5 normal USB ports, allowing you to charge 5 devices instead of just one?
I want low profile. I look on amazon for small ones and were either bad quality or too big, like anker. All I want is one port to charge my iPhone fast, and apple releases a super small high quality charger - which I couldn’t find on amazon.

The 18 Watt will already be enough, Apple claims it's 50% in ½ an hour, the battery on an Xs is 10.13 W/hr-3.81V-2658 mAh.
It won't be much different on the Xs Max.

Oh, I think I get what you’re saying now. You want something akin to Apple’s 5w charger. IMO the sizes I listed are fine for travel, but I’m kinda thinking you want something even tinier.

While not tinier than the wallwart, how does this tickle your fancy?
