I am convinced that a solid percentage of the population are morons, and reading this thread on confirms this belief.

I've read that
--the white iPhone4 will be delayed in shipping, which led to
--the white iPhone4 might have a manufacturing defect in it, which led to
--all iPhone4s might have a manufacturing defect in them, which led to
--everyone receiving an new iPhone should be worried that their phone is defective.

There's another posting here where someone relates the cancellation of their order where
--Apple notified them that their order was cancelled because their credit card had ben declined and the person stated that that could not be because his credit card is "connected" to his checking account.
--"Connected" ???
--does it mean that it was really NOT a credit card, but rather, a debit card?
--does it mean that he simply has automated bill-pay set up on the card?
--how do we know (or he know), that he simply did not have enough credit available on his card (if it was a credit card) or that he simply did not have enough money in his checking account (if it was a debit card). Had he checked with his bank/credit card company before posting?

We've read that stupid rumor about orders being cancelled if you check the status of your order more than three times in a day. Incredible.

We've read about someone stating that some of the orders may have been canceled because they violated the details of the ATT agreement and another poster stated that that could not be, because he "heard" that you could do other than the agreement stated. Just incredible.

Come on people, before you post, you need to check your facts, at-least to the level of being reasonable.

The very people who are complaining about Apple/ATT not performing perfectly are themselves unable to do their "job" by demonstrating an incredible lack of ability to get their facts straight.

That sounds about par for the course when it comes to a new iPhone being discussed on Mac Rumors.:)

One shipped other still says prepared for shipment

I received a shipment notification just after midnight for one I had ordered in the morning. The other was ordered around 5pm launch day and still no shipment confirmation for that one!

They can also deliver a day or two later, that would eliminate some server stress and still maintain the June 24th release date. lol

They need to just ship them out a day or 2 early. I think it would make the 24th smoother, a lot less people trying to activate on the 24th.

I totally agree. A lot of stupid in this forum and on the Apple boards.

Some people claimed if you changed your shipping address, your order was cancelled. Not true. I changed my address. Mine has shipped.

Some people claimed that any orders after noon EST were cancelled.
Not true. I ordered from Apple at 4:33 EST. Mine has shipped.

There were many other ridiculous claims as well, I just can't remember them all.

Got my FedEx email notification this morning at 8am EST. I ordered my phone at 9am EST on June 15th. It is being shipped from SHENZHEN, CN by "International Economy Distribution" and is supposed to be here on June 24th by 430pm.

If this helps someone, then here you go.

Mine says shipping from HK, which I at first thought was Hawaii:eek:; and then decided that it was Hong Kong.

Um...I think that was always there as a joke, trying to make fun of people who have been checking their order status more than they should. It's a joke...

I'd laugh if Apple/AT&T closed down the ability to activate and/or setup the iPhone 4 until June 24th, leaving those who did happen to get it a day early wringing their hands and cursing the gods ("It's soooooo unfair!").

Does anyone know if the addressee has to sign or could another person sign for it, I have it being shipped to a hotel where I will be staying and was hoping the hotel could sign for it and I could just pick it up at the front desk.

I don't think they still do this, but that was the case when I ordered my very first cell phone from AT&T back in 2000. They didn't just require a signature, it had to by MY signature - they refused to leave it with my apartment manager, even after I asked them to over the phone. I ended up having to drive to FedEx and pick it up.

FedEx Delivery Signature Options:

FedEx offers three Delivery Signature Options for shippers:
A. Indirect Signature Required. FedEx will obtain a signature in one of three ways:
1. From any person at the delivery address; or
2. From a neighbor, building manager or other person at a neighboring address; or
3. T he recipient can sign a FedEx door tag authorizing release of the package
without anyone present.

B. Direct Signature Required. FedEx will obtain a signature from any person at the delivery address. If no one is at the address, FedEx will reattempt delivery.

C. Adult Signature Required. FedEx will obtain a signature from any person at least 21 years old (government-issued photo identification required) at the delivery address. If there is no eligible recipient at the delivery address, FedEx will reattempt delivery.

Mine says that the package was received after the FedEx cutoff, that was last night 6/19 at 11:00 Pm. But now its in transit from Lantau Island as of 9:39 Pm 6/20. I wonder if they delivered them late to maintain the release date.

I'm bored, this doesn't really have to do with the OP but I'm just speculating

The hotel will sign for it. Obviously, your name "George Patton, hotel guest" should be on the package for you to retrieve it. Note that some hotels (business and luxury hotels, generally) have a nominal charge for this service.

No difference from having it shipped to your company and having the receptionist or loading dock person sign for it.

Yay!

Just got mine! And four of five hours later, it seems it left Hong Kong. Delivery date is the 24th, and it says, "before 4:30 PM." We'll see.

Now, will delivery day be like pre-order day when I hook this baby up to iTunes?

Lets all hope that apple and ATT saw the light and have more servers ready.

i was one of the later orders at about 8:30 pm on the 15, and i have my shipping tracking number already also.. so it is pure luck of the draw in what order they are being prepared for shipment.

i even have a pre sign for this package option with my tracking info which i think is insane

I'm thinking shipping date has something to do with shipping distances and such. If they're shipping ground, it would take longer to get from China to New York than to San Francisco.

??

Any news yet on those that ordered through AT&T about shipping or being prepared for shipment. I'm busting out of my chair here wanting to at least know SOMETHING about my order. :D

I treated my pre-order like a delicate hot house orchid. I wanted to change the shipping address to my work so I could get it earlier in the day but it said during the checkout process that it had to be delivered to the billing address...

I didn't mess with it and it shipped this morning...

My wife on the other hand isn't getting hers until July 15
