I want to be appointed to the Apple Board...

Hey,

I think I'd be a great addition to Apple's Board of Directors.

I own Apple stock, a Macbook Pro and an iPhone how come I'm not being considered for the Board of Directors? I know the products and I have a vested interest in the company's future.

If the board is going to be scrutinized for it's lack of independence from Jobs why not hire a complete outsider like myself. I have almost no ties to Steve Jobs which means I'd meet that fictional requirement.

Presently there is no representation on the Apple board from a very important market segment, college kids. As I'm currently an undergrad and will soon be entering grad school I'd be able to bring a new perspective from a key market segment. Also, I'm going to grad school so I'm clearly somewhat intelligent.

Apple is always a company that is looking forward and in fact its survival depends on it. I am currently employed as a Research Assistant in the Engaging Computing Lab at UMass Lowell where I work on the cutting edge everyday. Some of the projects I work on in the ECL include the future of technology education, sensor networks and self navigating robots.

Currently only 3 out of the 7 people serving on Apple's board are also involved in technology companies. I have experience not only as a developer for the Mac but I also run a company that develops applications for the App Store.

Additionally I have experience working in education, which is another key market for Apple. I have worked as both an instructor and junior admin for a public school system. I'd be able to use these experiences to bring yet another perspective to the Apple board.

Also, I have a Twitter account. Apple's PR has long been standoffish and the company needs a public face who can explain Apple's position as well as be the refuge for consumers who are forgotten by the system. Currently my Twitter account is rated a 90/100 by Twitter Grader (http://twitter.grader.com/chriscorcoran).

I'm cheap, way cheaper then the $50k and tens of thousands of stock options directors currently get paid. I'd do it for free all I'd ask to to reimburse travel expenses as I currently live on the east coast.

I'd say I make a pretty good candidate for the Apple board, wouldn't you? I'm experienced, smart, vested in Apple's future and working on the cutting edge. To top it all off I'm an outsider with a respectable Twitter account.

So, really this has become a question of why haven't I been selected for the Apple board yet?

I think you are probably the kind of douc# Bag that has MORE Than one (friggin') "Popped Coller" Apple is only a fashion statement for you and i think GI Joe is an erotic film in your eyes. Go to WALDO Hell , you peanut.:D

It would be nice if someone from AutoDesk were brought in. AutoDesk owns 90% of the most commonly used software for architects, film special F/X and games. AutoCAD is apparently in the process of being ported to OS X and engineering is a huge, high end business market that Apple has very little if any presence.

It's gonna be a sad, sad day when Jobs steps down. It's only one man, but I think many people may become skeptical of Apple's future success without him. I personally have no comment on the Board addition, but It should be someone new, someone with outside knowledge to further Apple's success.

Al Gore again. The board needs two of him. After all, he invented the internet.

When I first read that I thought "You what!?" but...

Yeah. That would be kind of awesome.

Cook will be appointed to the board if it's decided that he is Jobs heir apparent.

I agree. Since Tim Cook is already seen as the replacement for Steve Jobs (A la Ballmer per Gates concept, which has nothing to do with Apple vs Microshaft, but rather a smart corporate structuring move), it would be very smart for Apple to appoint Tim Cook to the Board. Apple should also slowly transition Cook towards Steve's job, but not actually replace Steve. Steve should remain CEO, but Cook, in addition to his current job, should also have the title of "Vice CEO." If Apple is smart, they will move Cook as close to being called "CEO" as possible but still keep Steve as THE CEO. This way it is clear to everyone that Steve is THE man in charge, but if something were to happen to Steve, Tim Cook is the "Vice CEO" and is not only capable of taking over, but is already a part of what Steve has been doing.

Most likely Cook will be elected, and that's a good choice imho.

But I think they should consider Chris Pirillo ;)

I think an ordinary Apple customer should be on the board. Corporate boards are myopic, incestuous, inbred, country clubs.

i bet Cook will be it

Boards of Directors are usually outsiders and a few chief officers of the company.

Filling the board with Apple employees wouldn't be viewed favorably.

On the other hand, getting another outside director and adding Tim as an additional director would be an obvious way to prepare for Jobs' departure.
