As noted by Steven Troughton-Smith (via 9to5Mac), Apple appears to be testing a revised iCloud.com portal at beta.icloud.com that shows two additional icons for Notes and Reminders in the background of the login screen. The standard iCloud.com portal displays only icons for Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Find My iPhone, and iWork.

Attempts to log in through the beta portal are unsuccessful, and even access to the portal has become intermittent, with it occasionally showing broken images or simply redirecting to Apple's standard iCloud information page.

The development comes just days after Apple was observed testing notifications on the regular iCloud.com portal, suggesting that Apple may indeed be working on a significant enhancement to its iCloud services. More information may become available at next month's Worldwide Developers Conference.

Update: Tom Klaver notes that the following text was included in one of the .js files used on the beta site:
To use http://beta.icloud.com, first sign in to iCloud with the iOS 6 Beta.
Update 2: A second portal at developer.icloud.com has also been active periodically, and SlideToLock has pulled out an iCloud developer icon from that background.

RIP Simplenote

Speak for yourself. I'm not giving up Simplenote/Notational Velocity. It works. Every. Time.

I enjoyed iTools/mac.com/mobile me - they were somewhat ahead of their time so I put up with their crankiness (plus I could buy activation/renewal codes online for cheap). But iCloud IMHO is a bust. In the age of Cloud computing it doesn't do much, doesn't do it particularly well, and is expensive if you want to use it as really intended.

With all of the various FREE cloud and syncing services around I expected better from Apple. I don't use iCloud for anything more than to sync Safari Bookmarks, iCal, and Contacts syncing and email (but don't use that address much). I moved on, but still hoping Apple gets it together here and offers a compelling product in the future.

I'm glad Apple is creating separate apps for Reminders and Notes. Hopefully, they will sync between the web and all devices. If not, there useless.

I don't see the use of this. Or better; I don't see the importance of it.

How about fixing iCloud mail first, which has been inaccessible today for countless users around the globe?

i hear you there!
i've been without mail all day, but i'm feeling OK about it as apparently i'm in a minority of less than 1%

Apple does a great job at keeping us alert with their software changes to a point. I honestly think iCloud will only improve overtime just like most if not all of their products. And usually when its right, its right! Im thinking that by the time WWDC hits their will be a few more surprises once they have worked out the kinks and what not.... Cant wait
