iphone 4 is good enough for me. i m so sad about iPhone 5 coming out this fall. cause my iPhone 4 is still great, and it will not anymore after iPhone 5 is out.. so sad man....

Link please. Didn't think so. If the iPhone 5 is prancing around looking like an iPhone 4 it's because it IS going to look like the iPhone 4.

Wow your an indignant ass... one link coming up

Here

Note SPECIFICALLY the line "A select few employees that are allowed to see inside the boxes, but even then all they see is a dummy body."

dummy body = iphone 4 body...

New Apple lineup:

World Mode iPhone 4 with redesigned antenna for prepaid market = iPhone 4S, price $399ish

New A5 iPhone, 1337 features, world mode, etc. = iPhone 5, $599ish unlocked.

well "cheaper" and "low-cost" are very relative terms
we will see
nice if it were free with 1yr contract

Subsidizing completely the price of a device only in a year's worth of contract? ATT wants you locked for waaaay more than that.

And then again, subsidizing is only a smokescreen for locking the consumer into expensive contracts and killing competition.

It's people like you that make me sick. You want others to be jealous? Go buy a Ferrari or something and then you've achieved that. A phone making people jealous? Yeah right.

Why would I be jealous of someone having a Ferrari? It's obnoxious to spend that much money on a car.

There are many people that really only need an 8GB iPhone.

What's more important is getting the price of the phone down to $99 for an iPhone 4 and hopefully we'll see shared data plans begin to be rolled out.

+1

I use my iphone everyday, 2 Gb data a month from my 6 GB plan.

I use around 4 GB of storage on my iphone 4, No music or movies, just apps.

because as engineers and sellers of the leading smartphone in the world, they know what theyre doing more than some people on a forum? maybe?

not really. the iphone4 is the top selling smartphone in the world, and has sold more for apple than any other version. nobody even mentions the myth any longer and i think its fine.

1. If those engineers and sellers wanted to make the most money possible, which is what this is all about, they'd give people what they want to buy. Not something they've had for almost a year and 4 months.

2. I was referring to the ORIGINAL sales of the iPhone. I know many people that put a lot of faith into Consumer Reports and because of that, they wouldn't recommend it. Imagine all the sales they could've had, had they not gotten that bad review. And that was just ONE review, there was stuff EVERYWHERE at that time about the antenna issues. OF COURSE that pushed people away. Facts show that it is definitely the top selling smartphone in the world, but you know what's better than selling a ton of phones? Selling MORE than a ton of phones.

Apple want £428.00 for an 8GB iPhone 3GS? Yet the iPad 2 16GB is £399? How does that work?

... However AT&T/Verizon are more than happy to sell a data only iPad plan for $20-$30 and we the customer can buy an unlocked/unsubsidized iPad for $500+. There is no voice subsidy/revenue sharing to pay for the backend network.

You answer your own question. the iPad is unsubsidized. Subsidized is actually the wrong term. You buy the phone. then pay the carrier back. It is more like paying with a special credit card that is your voice contract.
From that stream you pay back the carrier the $300-500 you didn't pay for the phone upfront over the two years.

So tell me, why can I not bring an iPhone (or any smartphone for that matter) to the network and sign up for a data only package?

In part because they want people to buy a new phone every two years. Put another device on the credit card. the other issue is that your phone is locked ( in the US).

Otherwise get a pre-pay account. If you have an unlocked phone then technically they should allow that. Especially once they start to light up the700MHz old TV bandwidth both carriers bought up. There is suppose to be equipment access with those.

It's a fictitious barrier. And I know it is because I already use a Nexus S with an iPad data plan and only pay for the 2gb data at $25!

Yeah but your Nexus S is just acting like an iPad or data modem. Either that or they just haven't caught you violating the contract yet.

I'd much prefer they keep the iPhone 3GS but drop it to free with 2 year contract as its entry level phone. It's distinctive and not dated looking based on its continued excellent sales two years after launch.

For now, the budget minded may just have to settle for a 3G iPod Touch with Skype or its competitors.

I don't understand posts saying we don't need storage on our phone because we have iCloud therefore we can stream everything. Ignoring the fact that some may not wish to rely on iCloud for their personal files, has no one considered slow data networks? Maybe it's just in the UK, but data download/upload speeds are not often to be desired here. I've never had over 0.5Mbit throughput on a 3G connection, so it's completely unfeasible for me to spend hours uploading/downloading gigabytes of data. I need it on my phone. But hey, I guess you all live in big cities surrounded by cellular masts.

I want exclusivity and the "wow I'm jealous factor".....not a "oh everyone has an iphone" thing.

Everyone already has an iPhone. It is the common mans phone now. Nothing exclusive about it at all.

Welcome to iPhone.

Bingo!

You make me embarrassed to want this phone. Real human beings want this phone because of how they will use it, not what people will think of them.

Most people want it because everyone else has one and few actually use it as more than a toy.

Apple selling unlocked phones would destroy Apples ability to manage and control their product. It would be like Android bastardized on a dozen different products.

Please know your terms before you post. An unlocked iPhone does NOTHING to enable someone to install unauthorized apps. It is just UNLOCKED. It is the way the majority of the world uses their cell phones, including iPhones.

Oh I hate this dumbing down and cheapening of the iphone!...what next the $25 iphone for poor people in Africa to find out where the next grain drop will be or where's best to hide from murderous Hutu rebels?

I want exclusivity and the "wow I'm jealous factor".....not a "oh everyone has an iphone" thing.

~sigh, searches for Grain App~
I guess you need to compensate for something !!!! Loser maybe ?

Yeah but your Nexus S is just acting like an iPad or data modem. Either that or they just haven't caught you violating the contract yet.

That depends on where he got it.

I had an unlocked European Nexus 1 and they can't do anything about tethering on that as they don't have "jurisdiction" (in lamens terms) over the phone.

It's completely off contract and I tethered from it every day I had it for at least 3 or so months.

I'm eligible for an upgrade now and I sold the phone a few weeks back for some much needed cash, but yea, there are also phones... I forgot the name, I think it's the slider from HTC (sold over seas), that lets you have unlimited data on the 15 dollar PDA data plan.
