Now why wouldn’t FaceBook, Instagram, and Google be higher? Also, why are they on this list at all? None of those apps are preinstalled on Any Apple device as far as I know.

As for their usage, maybe that’s because many of us use Apple to get away from Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and Twitter.

Face book is just upset, because they don’t want you to know how much they’re spying on you. Apple didn’t block their app, they just pulled back the curtain and Facebook was exposed for the dirtbags they are.

The bulk of those apps on either platform are basic apps that make the hardware functional.
Yep, basic features like a calculator have been in most operating systems since the GUI was introduced. Are they going to complain because you can solve Mathematical equations at the command line too!

Go get ‘em apologists! Tell them all how Apple can do no wrong! Stand up for your walled garden before it gets knocked down.

I think Facebook failed to disclose how many people hate their app! They also failed to disclose how much they’re spying on you, as a result of their “Free” services.

What is disturbing is that consumers flock to Apple knowing what they offer but people a whole want something different are trying to destroy what we want to force apple to give them what they want. It’s like going to McDonald’s and demanding a Whooper. They are successful because of how they chose to do business and it not fair to the company or their loyal paying customers to force them to be what their real customers do not want. We are not sitting on the fence waiting for Apple to become Google. We love the choices Apple has made in our favor but have the option to change companies if they stop doing so.

It is the insecure bits that made Cydia possible.
That’s only because Apple didn’t allow Cydia to exist as a normal App, without a need to find and then exploit the bugs in the kernel.

And despite those bugs in the iOS kernel, the iPhone ecosystem didn’t suddenly crash and burn. In fact, in the end, what ended up happening was Apple took many of the cool features from the jailbreak tweaks and baked them into iOS (like the original iOS control center introduced in iOS 7 was inspired by SBSettings).

I used to jailbreak my phone so that I could, among other things, turn my phone into a hotspot, as that feature was not available in the regular build of iOS. But then Apple brought that feature to the regular build of iOS, which was a good thing.

Competing app stores would likely make the iPhone much better, as I’m sure Apple would be inspired many of the innovations that developers put forth. We’ve seen it with various tweaks from Cydia. But Apple doesn’t want to talk about that, instead it fear mongers about security when what it is really doing is limiting choice. But the tide is turning.

Apple apps should get the same treatment as anyone else's. Apps may be preinstalled, but all Apps should be offered in the AppStore (with identical rules & restrictions) and replaceable for an alternative app (from whichever developer) by the user, if he/she desires so.

You can tell how most posters in this forum really condone Apple ways, competition is desired in everything.

To re-hash the car analogy: I'm sure GM-made car seats are the predominant car seats in GM vehicles. Does that mean GM should offer a selection of third party seats for use in their vehicles?
Actually you can change the seats in your car for any other seat, a more truthful analogy would be that GM does not let you change the seat.
