Or rather...seems like Facebook copied the Pixar style of open work flow that Steve Jobs developed when he was there...
Could be. Maybe. Probably. But if Facebook did steal the idea, then they're at least the ones most famous for it due to their brand recognition and extreme publicity as a company. And how many times did Steve steal an idea but because of the above reasons became famous for it as though he came up with it himself?

A million dollar order.

Four feet wide, a single piece of wood? I guess they'll be taking a tree, slicing it and then forming it flat, because I don't know of that many managed forests that would have trees four feet wide.

Rotary sliced plywood.

Lol. You went from 18 / 4 / 660. 6 numbers... To 10 numbers. Just to somehow try and say this US article about a US company should not use US measuring standards?
Why the US persists with an inferior, antiquated system is just confusing to the rest of the developed world. [Yes, I know the British still roll with MPH too, but hey, they do 'old fuddy-duddy' better than anyone.]

Yeah, I hear you... We somehow managed to get astronauts to the Moon and back, six times, despite our antiquated system of units. Jeeeez, maybe the rest of the developed world with the metric system could have gone to Pluto and back a few times. Right?

Antiquated?! Metric came first! While I do agree with you that I find metric better in lots of cases. Some dude who just can't bear to see feet or pounds... That's just silly.

it's not a single piece.. laminated layers.
when the article says 'seamless', it's meaning no seams the 18' way.. there are seams going across the table though (like, if you look at the person sitting across from you at the table, there will be seam lines between you and them.. but the other way, the long way,, no seams)

Hey, you can do anything in a movie studio right?:D
[Think you'll find most scientists work in metrics...;) but hey, you usual folk keep talking what you do!]

Seriously? Apple are installing large tables to encourage agile working like many companies have been for 25 years and this is news?

What next, a Jony video proclaiming that the desks are unashamedly wooden?
Apple has a "reality distortion field" that somehow still works on people. I guess alot of people don't notice certain things till Apple does them and they become "news." So, many people have their first associations with things because they heard it in reference to Apple. But, Apple without all the "marketing makeup" looks different 4 sure.

No wonder they're upselling & gauging customers with 16GB flagship iPhones and iMac's with 5400RPM harddrives.

It’s “gouging” not “gauging.” It’s very hard to be taken seriously when you have a limited vocabulary and can’t spell. And by the way, your Apple hatred is showing. Aren’t there any Android or Windows forums you can haunt instead of here?

while that may be true, i don't think the article means 'seamless' this way..

the craftsmen originally imagined the pieces would be installed in sections.. ie- 3- 6' long sections which were then assembled as one on site.. but since they're seamless, they are built in the shop at final dimension then shipped and installed as such.. (which makes it much more difficult to get it from the dutch shop to it's intended home inside an office building in CA.. as in- 4'x6' sections at 220lbs vs 4'x'18' sections at 660lbs.. and there are hundreds of them ;) )
