A problem with some of these fire statistics is that they don't take into account that the average ICE vehicle on the road is much older than the average EV. Because they are also cheaper on average, they are less likely to be as well maintained as newer, more expensive EVs. Other factors may also skew the results.
Also the fact that EV fires are basically impossible to stop once the fire is going. ICE vehicles will produce less damage when caught on fire in a garage because they are much more easier to stop than EV's. If you want an EV in your garage, then consider a concrete garage separated from the house.

They, however, catch fire *way* less often than ICE cars… also it’s rare for any car to spontaneously catch fire, typically it’s an accident than causes it. The likelihood of your car, gas or electric, spontaneously going up in flames while sitting in your garage is vanishingly small

Quite a fair point. BUT then you have to be next to a river, a lake, or the ocean in order to put the EV out.

That autoevolution article was posting speculation as fact. The reality is the NYC parking structure collapsed due to…
The report found the parking garage collapsed after workers began dismantling bricks -- without knowing they were holding up the 98-year-old building.
The 2023 collapse of the parking garage at 57 Ann Street "was triggered by the removal of brick and mortar from a severely deteriorated, load-bearing brick pier," the final report released Monday found.

Because a lot of folks who bought Teslas before Musk went way down the ketamine rabbit hole and came out the other side crazy (and arguably fascist, definitely more corrupt) dont want to be associated with Musk
And yet. Tesla is doing just fine in the states. Rebounding in Europe. /ot

While it is an improvement over Q1, itvstill is a drop in sales fromQ5 2025 and Tesla is facing increased inventory as thy build more than they sell.

I suspect this Ferrari will be a novelty item and testbed for future EV endeavors.

It also highlights why Apple may have abandoned the car project given the challenges a luxury band already in the car industry has.

Waiting for the roadster. However I think the hyper-luxury BEV market may not be what people thought it was going to be. We’ll see.

Yea, I'd like to see what a real car designer can create. If you think of some of the great designs, they were done by car designers, with the possible exception of Loewy; and even he had a consistent, and original, transportation design philosophy, IMHO.

However I think the hyper-luxury BEV market may not be what people thought it was going to be. We’ll see.

It's hard to say how it will play out, but by its very nature it will be a small niche for the very rich.
