or how do you know they do when all of the evidence is to the contrary? I know we all just live in a world where anything can be made up at any time about any subject and someone will believe it. But sell advertising data, there would be a trail dude, people would know
Well, they're not selling the data but they do have in their terms of service that they can provide the data to their partners. So yeah.. they're basically selling your data and you agreed with it.

This has been discussed previously . . Apple has been using partners to help with the Siri learning algorithms; it has not been going to marketers.

This exact situation has been discussed ad nausea before. Siri, FB, Goggle do not listen and market to you based on your conversations. But they will based on proximity. I have a "private" conversation with my doctor about a procedure and I don't use the internet reference it. But, I might tell a spouse who looks it up and since I am on the same ISP, I will start getting ads. Or I'm in proximity to a friend who then leaves and immediately looks it up. Since the devices have GPS, it knows the two people were in close proximity and then the ads come. Everything we are doing is being tracked. Siri et al. does not need to spy on you to get the data.

People haven't stopped talking about it. The threads on MacRumors are still very active. The Apple subreddit has a daily mega thread to discuss it. Security experts are still writing articles about it. People are still signing petitions.

The only person that stopped talking about it is Apple. They know they're powerful enough to simply ignore customers' complaints. They know they've set up their ecosystem to be a take it or leave it deal and hardly anyone can go through the trouble of leaving an ecosystem they've invested so much time and money into. It's covert extortion and it's what happens when entities become too powerful to answer to the people they serve, be it the relationship between government and people or customer and cartel business.
Add in the SJW world savior complex and you’re spot on. They’ve convinced themselves they’re saving the world from itself.

It's not extortion. They sell nonessential items that people willingly buy. Just don't use their phones if you don't want to, and inform your friends of why. If you've got the phone and the watch, stop upgrading both, and eventually switch. Anyone who claims that's prohibitively difficult is making excuses for not leaving their favorite phonemaker.

If it turns out I'm the only one who ditched my iPhone over this, dang, I actually applaud Apple for ignoring so many empty complaints and threats. But I'm personally not going back unless Apple reverses this BS.

Good. Now queue the usual tirade of Apple apologists explaining that Apple getting out of this lawsuit would actually be a good thing.
No queue the lack of proof yet support based on hersey.

I'd like to see how this was PROVEN Siri caused the ads, not the end user search for the item on another device, on the same wifi network non secured (beyond SSID+WPA2 connection).

Oh this will be fun to watch indeed. This is the same crap people think becaue they talked about product it's showing up in ads suggestions the same day not realizing they've already searched through it via Google or another web crawler or an unsecured email - whom farms out data within that the end user viewed/received.

we'll see.

Not every apologizing for Siri ... but honestly let's be real SIRI couldn't even manage 2 alarms for years until 2021 while Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and even Bixby did those first years ago - Bixby beat Siri on this simple task by a few months and it's years younger than Siri. Do you REALLY believe Siri is that good?

IF proven this is Siri and Apple ... then I have to look at Giannaopolis the Google AI guy Apple hired ... cause other than Shorcuts purchase and implementation, Siri to HomePod/HomePod messaging from Home, and clearer Siri voices ... he's not had CRAPOLY to show for his earnings and stock options. Maybe this is what he's been doing.

Stop playing around with user's privacy Apple.
Common ... do you really think Siri was this powerful?

How long did Siri take to manage 2 alarms on HomePod?!
Siri improvements since Google AI was hired and took over:

more human sounding Siri (barely noticed by my ears),
4 new Siri Voices,
New Siri voice messaging to HomePods only,
purchasing Shortcuts software and integrating it into iOS/iPadOS and macOS, yet not supplanting AppleScript.
More than 1 alarm to be set/tracked/started/managed.

Any other Siri improvements in 2yrs since that Google AI exect was hired? Alarms ... it took over 7yrs to manage more than 1 alarm and we're to believe Siri recorded private information and Apple sold to source?

I"m willing to bet those human 3rd party Siri contractors had something to do with this more than Siri or Apple executives having a hand in this.

Used to be a time when you could trust Apple with your data. Sad to say we've all been deceived. Apple no longer has the moral high ground on privacy or data. In many way they're worse than Google. At least they've never hidden the fact they sell your data
Care to prove ANYTHING you are saying?

This is very accurate and apparently WAY over most peoples heads. They just think they are being recorded.

I have a feeling this is a frivolous lawsuit, but it's also an accusation that Apple should have to prove is false in court,

That’s the exact opposite of how it works. Apple doesn’t have to prove a thing. They don’t have to call a single witness.

The plaintiff has to prove that the crazy thing they claim happened actually happened. It’s their burden to prove.

Apple is going to have it rough the next years now all the big boys are out to get them.

Weird how suddenly everybody stopped talking about CSAM though. Seems people got tired of complaining about it lol
There's nothing we can do about the CSAM, I think.

The CSAM thing is for our benefit. Anything in the cloud does not have privacy and pictures on cloud-services are being regularly scanned. Data that exists only on your phone is safe. Apple's CSAM implementation is basically warning you before posting/uploading something that might get you into trouble. IMO, this is a good thing.
