so it does have an expiration date? hmm, why I read somewhere that Apple Card never expires... so I am thinking of using it for all recurring payment so I don't need to repeat the old way of using credit card -- update card info after received new replacement credit card... happy for nothing :-(
It does because it’s a MasterCard requirement.

The physical card never expires but the number generated does. So same rules apply for auto pay. The difference being is that your new date is issued immediately, you don’t have to wait for the new card to arrive to update everything.

I'd be very surprised if it didn't have an expiration date. Hopefully someone can pull the card through a USB mag-stripe reader and report back what information is on there.

The whole point of an exp date on a card is for transactions that aren’t run through electronically. Since the physical card doesn’t have a card number it can never be run manually and therefore doesn’t need an expiration date. That’s also how they can justify a more expensive material like titanium.

Huh? Of course the card has a number. The whole point of the card is to be "run manually" in places where Apple Pay isn't available. Why else would it have a mag stripe and EMV chip?

FWIW, Amazon seems to allow you to put in an expiration date up to 2036. I'd imagine the chip and/or stripe would stop being readable long before then (assuming we're still inserting or swiping a significant amount).
