If you use Apple Card to pay for an Apple-refurbished device, such as https://www.apple.com/shop/product/...pad-pro-wi-fi-128gb-space-gray-4th-generation, do you get cash back? Or just on new devices?

In terms of the UK (and Europe) if Apple did ever launch the card over here I suspect it wouldn’t be as generous due to the cap on Interchange fees. From what I’ve seemingly seen in more recent years the average earn rate for non Annual fee cards is 0.25%?

Personally I find their message support team to be daft and borderline rude. over the course of carrying this card, it has been compromised twice (I only use Apple Pay, Never have swiped or used the actual number for purchases). I have had it declined at the terminal for large purchases with apple pay, and have to approve it via email, then re-do the transaction. AMEX platinum, in 30 years I do not believe a single fraud incident or a declined transaction. YMMV, but I do not rank them at the top of my list for customer service over at Goldman. They act as if nobody really cares to be honest. I don't think I have ever seen a thank you words that would indicate soft skills.
I had a similar experience. Goldman Sachs support staff are some of the rudest.

I am getting skeptical of JD Power awards. They don't seem to be aligned with actual experience of using something. (At least for me.) Unless customers are just so brandwashed that they think they are more satisfied when they use more prestigious brands.

Closed my AmEx Platinum Card when I got Apple Card. Now that my wife also shares AC account, it’s even better. Love the cash back stash I always forget about as well.

This is my main card. I know, that there are some cards with better perks, but those are often limited to a certain category and amount. You definitely can have ten different cards to leverage cash back, but why?

edit: to be clear, any purchase from anyone. The Apple purchases get an extra 1%.

we use our Apple Cards for (Apple Services (paying monthly iCloud and Apple Music fees or any iTunes purchase) to get the 3% rebate.

But for hardware, we use the Amex Delta Blue (0$/yr) to get the (Skymiles, but more importantly the) supplemental benefits for breakage and warranty extension.

The only thing I use my Apple Card for is my $.99 iCloud. It gets waived every month. I also used it last year to finance my 12 Pro Max just to see how that whole thing worked. I have much better cards like one that gives me 3% cash back on all purchases.

LoL those merchants already had the cost of a card baked into their prices for the last 25 years.). Now they want to add a surcharge. That’s double dipping that they’ve tried and failed at before.
They're definitely double dipping, but they're not failing this time. Besides this article, I've seen it more and more at mom-and-pop restaurants and lots of gas stations.

If I get it, I'd use it for Apple News +. But that's $9.99, so it's probably too much to be waived.

Yeah small balance waiver. I haven’t tested to see how large it can be. I doubt that $9.99 would get waived.

Free money? Their rebate isn’t free. It comes from fees vendors incorporate into the prices you pay. Your just getting some of your own money back in the form of a rebate. You’re not even getting all of it back.
Compared to someone who pays the same price in cash, it’s free money. 1-5% cash back (depending on card, etc.)from using credit responsibly isn’t peanuts when one is charging thousands per year for typical expenses. Pay bill in full monthly, pay no interest, get money back = free money that the guy who used his debit card didn’t get.

Last week Apple sent me an email inviting me to apply for a card. I clicked on the link and signed in using my Apple ID. It then goes to https://card.apple.com/apply/startapply/application momentarily before going back to the login page. I know that my login is correct because I tried entering the wrong password and got a note about that.

I tried this using two different browsers (Edge and Chrome) and two different machines. Weird. If it doesn't work on my iPhone, I'm giving up and sticking with AMEX.
 
I like the card a lot, but I don’t find many online sellers that take ApplePay, so I usually use another card that gives 1.5% cash back instead of 1% they give for non ApplePay transactions. I use it almost exclusively for contactless POS transactions.

The systems in Europe and other countries are much more sane that what we have in the US. Yes, there are cards with seemingly high cashback and other benefits, but we all pay for it with insanely high merchant fees. In Europe they are capped, that's why you don't see cards like in the US there.


You're not missing much. I have yet to meet anyone who really uses that. If you want to use it to send money to friends etc. the problem is that there's always someone who uses Android, so you always have to have an alternative ready. But then why use Apple Cash in the first place?

JD Power is being excessively generous. Apple Card has never worked well for me and Goldman Sachs surprisingly is like banking at the Dollar General; their reps are by far the worst I've ever encountered. I processed a flawless transaction for a Dell computer using their finance system -- one simple charge per month. Apple/Goldman assigned a series of charges without any explanation on my statement and when I called they couldn't tell me what they were. Very frustrating.
