Just set mine up. I assume you can use this to pay your Apple Card balance too right? I just need to get the routing and account number.

Can't you transfer your funds to the USA and open up a new account in US?
What kind of out of touch statement is this? There's significant issues with simply opening an account in another country. There may be requirements such as residency, citizenship, etc, not to mention at least for US users, you have FBAR/FACTA requirements for foreign accounts.

How many people do you know that transfer $ out of your country? I think I know maybe a few. I've done it because I have relatives in other countries but .... I imagine if I asked everyone I know, only a few would know.

Out of touch, really? lol. Bit harsh imo.

Of course haters will laugh at Apple with the straw man as if Apple invented the savings account. At the same time as a long time (15+ years) HYSA user this is nothing new, but if this is what it takes for America to wake up about personal finances, then it's a good thing.

Agreed. You should always have an emergency fund readily available and for such a purpose a HYSA is a great option.

5 years seems high but to each their own. People buy houses, have medical emergencies, etc.
That is the first time I’ve ever heard anyone say to have 5 years of bills in savings. Most common term I’ve heard is 6 months of expenses.

I haven't followed the Reg. D issue too closely, so I'm wondering if anyone here knows for sure...

For savings accounts, there is/was something called Regulation D that limited the amount of withdrawals or transfers from a savings account to six per month. I believe the regulation was relaxed back in 2020 (due to COVID) and some savings accounts allowed more (some, even unlimited) withdrawals/transfers from a savings account.

Does anyone know what the limit (if any) is on the number of monthly withdrawals/transfers for this new Apple Savings account?

Thanks!
The deposit agreement states that there may be a limit of ACH transfers per month based on amount and/or frequency, and that the app would let you know of those limits when you request a transfer. I'm on hold with Goldman Sachs chat to find out if there are any pre-existing limits.

They live in the Bay Area, which is one of the most international/immigrant filled regions of the US, and call me a terrible person but their profile also suggests they're a POC.

With that said, yes it was a bit harsh and I apologize. I do think that in a more ideal world transfers across countries should be much easier--some thing crypto is trying to do.

All good, we're all entitled to our opinions :D.

AGREED. It is such a pain and you get fees like crazy (at least I did with Wells Fargo) with limits that force you to incur more fees than you should. <sigh> lol.

It looks like my bank, which was linked to Apple credit card, is already linked to this account. Has anybody tried moving money from a checking account into this? Do you just click "add money" and go from there? I'm waiting for the tutorials to come out but I like what I'm seeing.

Regulation D has been suspended since April 2020, but banks are still beholden to Regulation DD (yes I’m saying this with a straight face).

I saw that it would take 1-2 days to transfer $ from my bank to my Savings account.

So I added $ instantly from my debit card to my Apple Cash balance, then instantly went from Apple Cash to Savings. Worked for me (2x this morning). :D

I've never been a fan of Wells Fargo Bank. Not sure why but they do have too many hidden fees.

I asked about withdrawals limit. Apple confirmed that no limit. And we can use direct deposits with account info.

Excellent! I want to transfer $10,000 right now but I'm also scared. It is Tim Cook who is going to be overseeing our money. Perhaps, later tonight I will be transferring a bunch of money to Apple Savings.
Yes Tim Cook will personally monitor your 10grand himself and make sure its ok... Forget about the Trillions of dollars he is responsible for as CEO of Apple... Your 10K will be his main priority!
