Good one. I bet most people nowadays don't even know what that was forMeanwhile, my Visa debit card still has raised lettering.

what if you try really hard?I can’t even imagine taking a physical “card” out to buy something….
i'd do it more, but it hardly ever works!Oh yes. VERY common at gas stations. It's very uncommon for me to use contactless at the pump.
No, sorry. I still prefer the magnetic strip, it's far faster and easier. Swipe and that's it. With the chip, I need to insert, wait, wait to prompt to remove it. It's literally 3x the mental effort as a magnetic strip. The decision comes as consumers have changed their payment habits to prefer newer, more secure technologies.
they'll just have to splurge on a contactless reader...I honestly never use the magnetic stripe unless its a small mom and pop shop. Trivial to me. May stress out those small local stores though.
i don't understand why people keep saying this. nyc is full of places that still swipe your card. not saying it's a good thing, but it is a thing.Very few places. Most will take chip or tap. But there is a very small one off chance you may still have to swipe. Usually some vending machine or parking machine.
i think that's coming in 2037I hope that by this time Apple Card will not be US exclusive anymore
i was very surprised that they didn't.Apple should add NFC onto Apple Card, so that it can be used with contactless payment readers (and hopefully also get Apple Pay bonus). As it stands, I see no reason to carry the physical Apple Card and get only 1% cash back.
I think overall it’s a positive, especially for security. The only potential downside is when using the card for travelling. Some countries and particularly poorer countries will take a really long time to get up to date.
In Thailand for example using a card is discouraged save for in large malls and supermarkets. If you try to use your card at smaller stores you’ll often be asked to use cash due to a reluctance to incur card fees. I can’t see them updating their terminals any time soon.
great idea, but businesses have to get on board — banks alone can't do this. Here's a thought - get rid of the damn card altogether!!! Digital - on our phones / watches only!!
We really need the banks to get their head out of their a*s - contactless everywhere already!!!
Haven’t used a card like that in the U.K. in like 15 years.Oh yes. VERY common at gas stations. It's very uncommon for me to use contactless at the pump.
