I rarely use this card. I have another card with way better perks that I use all the time. I only use my Apple Card for the 3% back at Apple.

Got the card and cancelled it the day it arrived. It’s still in the package. I may be the first person in the world to have ever cancelled the Apple card. 😂

There aren't consumer protections like one might get with an American Express card,

What protections are lacking?

Same. Inability to easily use with Quicken, Apple's insistence on billing on the same day which causes major problems with Goldman Sachs customer support, get much better benefits with my Chase Sapphire card, etc.

I love my Apple Card. I pretty much use it for everything ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Man I absolutely love my Apple Card, I use it for everything. And Apple keeps automatically raising my limit (50k now), without any need of a credit check or anything.

….
Man, we must live in alternate universes!

I do like the card, very easy to keep track, pay etc.

But I got mine Dec ‘20 when I bought a 12 Mini on zero percent interest. The credit limit was about $1300. I’ve tried four times to raise it, three times they gave me an extra $50 or $100. Once they said I was calling too often and threw me in penalty box for a year.

Maybe they don’t like retired people, or that I carry no balance?

I (briefly) had an Amazon Chase last year, came with a $20K limit.

Geez , I just wanted say $3K so I could perhaps buy a MacBook Pro and a phone at the same time.

Some of Amex's high tiered cards offer purchase protection (reimburse for theft, loss, accidental damage within 90 days of purchase), return protection, extended warranty coverage, trip cancellation and interruption insurance, trip delay insurance, car rental loss and damage insurance, baggage insurance, Premium Global Assist, and Global Assist Hotline.

I wonder which will replace Goldman Sachs?
By closing the card when the Apple Card contract is up. There's no way Goldman Sachs renews it, and by the looks of the current situation, no other bank wants to take control.
Yeah, I don‘t really see any other bank or card provider stepping up to the plate after GS contract expires new year. I would be hesitate to get an Apple Card until they find someone to fill in the shoes. Apple may have to become a bank? Bank of Apple? Hahaha.😁

Tell us about the annual fees for those cards.

If Steve was still around Apple would've jumped into Crypto years ago and would be trendsetter, not reactionnary..

The partnership with Goldman Sachs is the reason why it's not Japan. Goldman Sachs's reputation means staying far away.

It is surprising that after five years the Apple Card hasn't expanded internationally. There were some rumors two years ago when Apple acquired British fintech start-up Credit Kudos that it was an indicator they were planning to enter the UK market but so far nothing has happened so it was likely an unrelated acquisition.

Personally I'm very satisfied with my American Express card but anyone who has one knows it's not accepted universally there is always some place that won't take it so you always need a backup card. If Apple were to launch in my country I'd likely get one and use it as my backup or even main card depending on the cashback rate.

I would say if anything, it’s NOT surprising. The product doesn’t seem profitable enough for a bank to issue.

I don't think Amex is interested.

i read the full article, didn't get that vibe from his response. said prefers premium economics and apple is def premium

man.. the new promotion makes it hard to not open an account... but worried about its future

Still waiting for it to be available outside USA. Not sure whether that will happen anytime in the near future.

They gotta get more partners on board. Although I don‘t goto live sport events, how about more perks at MLS games for example.

Credit cards are for the insolvent nowadays. Financially prudent people use debit cards. I've been using Wise debit with Apple Pay (store permitting) or its physical card almost anywhere I go.
That's not true when it comes to reward cards. Affluent people use them for the rewards and consumer buying protections. The kinds of people that are having money woes do not get reward cards, they get balance transfer cards and 0% interest for 12-18 month cards.

The Apple Card, American Express and others in this sphere that give good rewards (typically 1% to 3% cashback or points of a similar buying power) are all about rewarding spenders who pay their statements on time and punishing those who don't by swallowing up any rewards you've earned through high interest rates that dwarf the reward percentages.

Also I can't speak to the Apple Card specifically but Amex in my country about a year ago increased the minimum earning thresholds for all their cards to make them less accessible to those struggling financially, their best card here now needs a personal minimum income of $45K USD and their lower-tier cards $26K USD.

Get a PayPal credit card instead. 3% cash back on any PayPal purchase. 1.5% cash back on everything else.
I've got this one and was pretty upset when they lowered the non-PayPal cash back rate from 2% to 1.5% starting this month, but it's interesting to see it's still better than the Apple Card (unless you use Apple Pay everywhere and never use PayPal, I guess).

I really meant that it's out of character for Apple to launch something and 5 years later it's still a US exclusive and hasn't been cancelled entirely.

Of course the financial proposition that Apple is offering banks isn't attractive, that's the main issue according to reports and that's not the surprising part to me, it's all about them spending so much time and effort on this, building the app, spending considerable time at their keynotes discussing it and it still after five long years is US exclusive, that's unusual for an Apple product or service.
