Sorry to hijack the thread but do I need to purchase the phone from the Apple store itself to buy apple care?

Or I can purchase it with a phone bought from any store?

It can be from any store, but it has to be within 30 days.

If you buy from another store, make sure you have proof of purchase with a date on it. When I got AC+ on my phone their system showed it being the last day eligible. It had been less than a week since I put the order in with AT&T and less than 24 hours since I had the phone in hand. I didn't have a problem since I was in on the "last day" and the date on the plan reflects the day I went in, not a month before.

I just ordered mine over the phone. Apple sends you a text with a link you must click. This link sends them a boat load of diagnostic data like battery, temperature, etc. Everything was good, but the computer said I wasn't eligible. The employee I talked to was very nice, and transferred me to a supervisor who went ahead and approved it. I don't know if the switch I did with Verizon to keep unlimited data was the reason I got denied, since the # I bought it under wasn't the same number that is activated on it now.

On a side note, their hold music was awesome! The Killers and the Eagles!
