Hi, I have dream feature for Apple CarPlay! Active Noise Cancellation!

I must be possible to make a rudimentary solution, since the iPhone is equipped with a powerful processor and (calibrated) microphones. And combined with the cars speakers, a sealed small space (the cabin), it have all the requirements for doing some sort of active noise cancelling on the fly?

Is this an impossible dream?

Anyway it would be a killer feature if it was added to CarPlay!

(I have an oldish diesel Fiat Qubo, so less noise would be welcome.)

If you mean noise cancelling with the speakers in your car…nope. The way NC headphones work is that they use the ambient sound…the NC mic doesn't hear the audio going to your ears and the NC only processes/cancels the ambient. Your iPhone's mic is hearing road noise plus your car speaker audio.

Anyway…I don't think it'd be a good idea. Cancelling exterior sounds successfully would be the equivalent of wearing NC headphones…illegal to do in some places while driving.
