You don't use RTTI on iDrive for alternate routes? I mean I guess if you are already used to Google Maps, it's going to be difficult to leave it just out of habit and familiarity.

Sure I do, but it’s not about the integrity of the rerouting, it’s about the lack of visibility to alternate roads that have no traffic at all.

Case in point is the Google Maps image I posted a few posts earlier. If I was using my BMW nav, it’s simply would’ve said to take the Northern State Parkway because it is the fastest route. What it wouldn’t tell me is that the highway that I find more convenient to drive on, the Long Island Expressway, is only 1 minute longer. BMW nav, just like Apple Maps and everyone else’s maps, makes the decision for you but does not tell you your other options in a very quick and glanceable manner on the turn-by-turn display as you drive.

On a 90 minute drive from New Jersey to Long Island there must be 15 instances just like this example where I would willingly add a minute or two of driving time to take a road that is more familiar to me.

I know this is an old thread, but I just got a 2019 X4 M40i and I am about to pull my hair out with apple car play! I’ll have a podcast going but then my pandora takes over (even if the pandora app is closed) and it keeps playing the same song.. EVERY TIME. I know this is such a silly thing to get so annoyed at but come on! You were having the same issue 3 years ago and it’s still not fixed. I don’t even know why I’m posting, just to vent I guess.

GET WITH IT APPLE!

Just wanted to see if everyone had the same feelings, or if it's just me...

Example 1: audio from the GPS.. Sometimes its loud over the music, sometimes it won't lower the music so I can hear it

example 2: I have NO music playing.. But when the GPS kicks in to give me an audible message, the music starts playing from nothing

example 3: your messages are read to you. Period.. I GET the point of not being able to look down.. But, I CANT read my messages on the screen at all??? Or WORSE yet, why is it when I pick my phone up and open a message on my phone, the carplay starts playing the message

example 4: the car play MIRRORs everything I'm doing on my phone.. So, navigation goes away if I want to open a message.

I can go on a bit more.. But is it just me, or is there a fix or something here.

its a ****** BMW software not Apple. I have tried my phone on BMW X3 as well as Accord. on Accord it works flawless!

Cant say i've ever had this sort of issue with Carplay on my Vauxhall Insignia and i use it loads. Does seem to be a BMW specific issue.

I have two BMW's and have not seen this happen on either of them when playing a podcast.

There is cracked version of car play out there, but you need to jailbreak your phone to use the app. I saw it and its amazing. forgot the name though, sorry.
