You don't use RTTI on iDrive for alternate routes? I mean I guess if you are already used to Google Maps, it's going to be difficult to leave it just out of habit and familiarity.
Sure I do, but it’s not about the integrity of the rerouting, it’s about the lack of visibility to alternate roads that have no traffic at all.
Case in point is the Google Maps image I posted a few posts earlier. If I was using my BMW nav, it’s simply would’ve said to take the Northern State Parkway because it is the fastest route. What it wouldn’t tell me is that the highway that I find more convenient to drive on, the Long Island Expressway, is only 1 minute longer. BMW nav, just like Apple Maps and everyone else’s maps, makes the decision for you but does not tell you your other options in a very quick and glanceable manner on the turn-by-turn display as you drive.
On a 90 minute drive from New Jersey to Long Island there must be 15 instances just like this example where I would willingly add a minute or two of driving time to take a road that is more familiar to me.
