When I saw this earlier on Google News I was further impressed with the App Store.

It has the ease of a system that's been in place and well refined for much longer.

Some stations you can get there quicker by taking a train and then transfer at MacArthur. Finding this out save 10 mins off my journey time.
I can't visit bart.gov right now (might be blocked from where I am now) but I will have a look later on since I am going to visit friends in Lafayette (from SFO) and play some golf in Walnut Creek next week so your info can come in handy. Thanks!

Waiting 15 mins for a train in a pain. Especially when you have kids to occupy. Since I live 20 mins walk to the station I would prefer to time it correctly.[/QUOTE]
But of course (having children myself) but I was only trying to address the fact that you don't necessarily need the BART app to get to the schedule – it might be very convenient to you, but most people won't need it ;)

You're missing the point. It's over, it's in the past. Keep it there. While your giving MS credit for helping Apple by reminding us of what happened SEVERAL years ago, are you going to give MS credit for Apple's success as well? :p
But of course not! Apple management has done an incredible job, we all know that, but they needed a little help. Period.

Let's go back to the keynote, please, because what Philip Schiller did (as senior vice president of worldwide product marketing) might be what you expect from him, but that to me was rather awkward.

It's unbelievable that it's only been a year! What a great thought and a way to make each iPhone an individuals special iPhone. Way to go!

Ever used Linux? They have a system pretty much like this one. No, Apple's idea isn't original and is quite inferior in some aspects (e.g. no delta updates).

Anyway, happy birthday App Store and let's hope you become a more friendly store in the future.

This slide says it all:

Yes, that slide tells us that Apple is afraid to show the whole situation.

They only included apps available in manufacturer stores. For example, ignoring the 15,000 Blackberry apps on Handango.

Most especially, they totally left Windows Mobile off the chart. There's at least 20,000 free WM applications, and probably well over 30,000 altogether.

But then, the chart wouldn't have been nearly as impressive if Apple had acknowledged the real world.
